Ets intercooler +piping needing a re tune?

Thinking about replacing my intercooler since some one backed into my bumper and bent my intercooler a bit, so my insurance is covering the price of stock ($700) lol. So I'm thinking whats the point, might as well upgrade a bit. Would I need a tune on 2012 gsr? or a re-tune since I have stage 2 cobb ap with hfc and cat back. Sry if it was mentioned somewhere, I did try searching and I found for 2008 model stock tune.

thanx

^ Very interesting explanation... Yes, It would be safer if you had your car tuned after changing all those parts.

No you don't NEED a tune. Your car will run fine with the new parts added, but if you want to take advantage of the power of the new parts you will need to be tuned for them.

What about adding a IC and pipes would make you think he does not need a retune? Increased air flow + boost charge - stock AFR settings = lean conditions

Just my 0.2

Changing anything engine related requires some ROM attention, even down to a intake. If you ignore it and just hope for the best you most likely just going to get the worst.

I ran mine for 6 months, talked to tuners about this issue as well. Will it be ideal? No. Can you run it safely? yes. Am i just giving my .02 and hoping for the best or did i ask people that knew the answer? yes.

My friend haven't tuned his car after he put the IC in, just give your ECU some time to learn but yes you should definitely get it tuned.

Do you need a retune when it's cold outside? That's what a better intercooler is doing for you. Sure there will be increased airflow, which the MAF sensor will detect. Intercoolers and intercooler piping won't throw off the MAF sensor calibration like intakes potentially can.

The better intercooler may allow you to run more boost and/or timing without knock, which you WOULD need a tune to take advantage of.
