Ok called and talked to dealer again they have maint records for car. Looks like timing chain is revised but that it other than normal oil/ fluid changes. Which I already have diaqueen cans sitting in my garage that ill probably put in that we're left over from the VIII.
Apologies for late responses I'm a 3rd shifter

How long have they had it?
edit: I completely agree with the post after this one; if all you have on hand is $2500, you shouldn't be getting an Evo X and you definitely shouldn't be getting one with 100k on the clock

I recommend 100k civics to everyone that wants a used cheap and reliable car but an evo x is not exactly a simple lego car like a entry honda. $18.6 is still a lot of money.
Let me ask you this, do you have any money put away for repairs if they are needed? If you had that $2500 for repairs instead of a down payment then it would be a different story.
I know that buying a new(to you) Evo X is firetruckin exciting, just take a step back and think for a couple days.

Yea I have money to put back I'm only using the money I got from totaling out my Infiniti that I traded my VIII for. as far as repairs such as chain or things would only be parts cost as the labor would all be on me. I'm assuming that changing the chain is not as hard or any harder than Doing all the components on a 4g63???? <<<<-- this is me asking if its harder.
All in all I'm gonna run another title check through another BMV type of system to see if I can't find out why it was repo'd that way I have a few more days to think it over

Um, it was repo'd because someone didn't make the payments. What more do you need to know?
Note that people who can't make payments often don't do other things that require money, such as oil changes. Do you really have evidence that all the oil-changes for those 80k in the last few years were done?

BUT, and this is a big one - I would make sure to read the fine print on that bumper to bumper, it can be a real hassle to get them to cover anything as they most likely are a 3rd party warranty company that is in business by taking you money, NOT repairing your car.

Update I just ran a autocheck on the car as well it showed that the plates and registration were renewed every year in July the time that the second owner had it. It was then reported as loan default in August 2012 one month after he had just renewed the plates.
Also I'm going to have them send me copies of the "warranty" first.

Hey, if the old guys say don't do it, don't do it.
They have all the experience and stuff and I would rely on them.
You're asking for help, everybody seems against it so if I were you, I'd be patient and wait for another deal to come. I know it's exciting to find an Evo for such a low price but the repairs that you might have to do would make you regret it.
Like it's been mentioned, oil changes, fluids, brakes, clutch (my wallet is still suffering from that one...) and everything else.
Good luck though

Well I appreciate everything everyone has said. And I think I'm gonna take a close look at maint records to see what's up. The price seems comprable to mileage considering I can 80,000 mileage evils for around 21000. Again I'm only paying 16000 with my down payment. I will keep looking while they send me all these papers. But thanks for the time everyone took to write back!

It's coming here! I have a few days to drive t to confirm the purchase so I will have it gone through at a dealer in those few days before it becomes official mine
Again I want to thank everyone I'm going to have te dealer check those specific things you all mentioned.
