Going to buy Evo x with your guys opinion

08 Evo x gsr with nav and Rockford system. Car has had two owner with the second being a repo. The car shows no signs of ever being modified, and has had only factory accessories installed at factory. They were asking 18,975 I would be walking out the door for 16,500 said and done. Plus 600$ in shipping which is irrelevant to car I guess. Below I gave a carfax link to it. Let me know what you think of it. I have been assured by dealership it is in perfect working order

Best advice I can ever give anyone is to look at the car in person or to have the car looked at by a paint/body specialist.

Its a 2008 w/ over 100K miles... I hope it has the maintenance records etc. Thats a lota miles for the time being.
I am sure it is well taken cared of it should be ok...But again, bring a expert, friend or mechanic to check it out. Remember this isn't the only evo you can buy! Take your time! Enjoy!

Noted^^^ I built my VIII for the most part. But the more I read on the 4b11 and its timing chain issues it kind of scares me. I was wondering of the dealership cleared the lights for a slack chain wouldn't appear right away again? Granted I still have that week I can drive it I could take it to a dealer for inspection. But still just wondering

Not sure Id purchase an x with that many miles without a stack of maintenance records.

Things to look out for:

1) failing AYC pump
2) timing chain stretch
3) slipping clutch

might legit, looks like it was repo'd, sent to auction and this dealer grabbed it. Only thing that makes me nervous that it came from a repo auction. If they tagged it at $18500, then they're probably in it 15k, which is too cheap even for auction...unless they hated they guy cuz the person who lost it has to pay the difference anyways so maybe they didn't care.

Part two: if they came off their price down to 16,500, that could be two things. Either they're going to make it up by raping you on financing, or, there's something very visibly wrong about the car that makes it hard to sell locally. The whole "week to drive and return" is also very suspicious...who pays to return it? what about mileage? Is that even legal (in most states its not, or you can't really enforce it as the buyer).

If it were me, I'd drop a $100 on a plane ticket and go look at it, or, hire a vehicle inspection service to go physically look at it and assess it.

....okay truth time if it were me I'd probably just get excited and buy it then down the road by like dammit why didn't I look at it first or have someone check it out
...and that's the story of how I bought my Land Rover

100k? Ouch! I fail to find info on people that have these anything over 120k. I don't know if they just disappear into thin air or what but that's really high mileage for a car that you can only assume was romped around.

EDIT: Also, what happened when it got repo'd and when it sold. There is a mystery 80k that technically should not be on the vehicle.. Smells like fish.

Easy. Some dead-beat beat on it for a few years and then let Emilio Estevez come and get it.

100k is just plain too much. You are looking at, strut replacement, bushings in the suspension along with ayc pump, the chain, clutch, belts, and just plain wear and tear on a lot of switches, sensors, bearings.

There simply are a lot of unexpected items that might fail and the $16k will be $20k before you know it and possible even more.

Walk away man, add a few more grand and get something in the 60k range.

cheers

Stay the hell away from that thing man. There's 75k UNDOCUMENTED miles on that thing. That is super suspicious.

EDIT: Title was updated in Virginia, but then repossessed in Atlanta?
