Previous versions of the 4-Matic system have been a rear-default Haldex and then something with three open diffs and Type-2 traction control. What's the latest? The odds of it being a helical front, active center, and anything like a clutch-pack (Scooby) or AYC (Evo) in the rear is near zero, so I really doubt that the latest version is "pretty much" the same, but I'm curious as to what it actually is.

If the above isn't clear, I would not consider either a Haldex or a something with three open diffs to be anything like an STi or Evo.

All current reviews say it handles just fine. I have no idea what the drivetrain setup actually is. I suspect most people wouldn't notice a difference, or much of a difference anyways, during daily driving. I wouldn't buy the Mercedes if I planned on tracking the car, but I would any of the three cars discussed if I was planning on tracking.

Edit: It looks like it has a multi-clutch differential in the rear.

Not sure what the front and center are.

I just came from a 2012 WRX limited. Only mods were a Nameless catback and Cobb AP stage 1 map. I drove a 14 GSR after owning the Subaru for a year and fell in love with it, traded it in a few months ago. It was probably a dumb financial move as it was all paid for, but had to have the Evo.

Yes the seats don't fold down and I'm paying a bit more for gas due to lower mpg, but I don't miss the Subaru at all. And I actually like the interior on the Evo better. I have the interior package and its a 2014 so it has a touch screen. I thought the leather seats in the WRX were junk. Much prefer the standard Recaros.

I love the X, but I hate when people down the Oder Evos as if they have someone far superior. You guys have a better handling car, the older guys have a better engine..lets not compare them and say the 4b11 is just as proven cause its not. It can't handle the same amount of power and isn't as stout. Sorry. And this is coming from a guy who plans to rid of his VIII for a 2014 X

Uh, the 4G63 isn't a better engine. Evo Xs are seeing bigger gains for the same mods than the old 4G63. The 4G63 is a great powerplant but the 4B11T is a fantastic powerplant.

The 4b11 motor is more responsive. ANd the evo x transmission and awd system is stronger and smoother, than the evo 8 transmision and awd system. So in reality the evo x overall, is a more stout car starting off with the chassis.

Lmao mod for mod until maybe 400hp. You can't find big power X like you can 8/9 just be real. The highest hp 8/9 is far beyond e highest hp X and let's not even talk best 1/4 miles cause that's a KILL for the 8/9. The 4b11 does NOt take the same abuse that the 4g63 does.

The 4G63 has also been around for how long, almost 2 decades? 4B11Ts are routinely running more than 400 HP, try closer to 500 HP. Once you get above that, it becomes a wash; you're going to be paying big bucks regardless of which platform you choose.

I refute your claim.

These are all on the first page of the Evo X dyno section. All are making more than 500 whp, and way more power than your car.

Stop with the swearing and worthless bench-racing. My next clean-up of this thread will be the easy version.

edit: I put one useful post back and then deleted a lot after this post that was arguing about the thread instead of having a conversation about the topic.

I'd be making 450 on e85. Remember I'm gonna be in an X very soon so I'm a fan. But the engine is not as good. Laughing out loud to click on our dyno section, I think one of the first is a 900hp build. And we have stronger blocks and you know that.

Jesus. Is this still my thread or am I lost? And I'm just bored with the sti. The evo seems like the only logical switch.

if you want plan on making power and using it here and there at the track. the 5 speed is a better choice. and the paddle shift in the mr is a pain once you throw any torque at it. in MY opinion you will like the evo better than your STI. but thats just me.
