it will run funny if it has a CAI and exhaust and no tune. It might have an aftermarket boost controller on it or perhaps the vacuum tees are not properly setup if he put the stock on back on. Time to get a Cobb AP.

Why did you buy it then?

-it can also happen when you're driving. let's say you're cruising on the freeway doing 70mph in 5th gear. you let off the gas and instead of cutting fuel, the car will still shoot fuel in the engine. two ways of checking this. one is by looking at your mpg estimator. when you let off the gas, it should go all the way up to like 75mpg (whatever the top is) but instead it'll be stuck at 50mpg or 70mpg. two, if you have a a/f gauge and you let off throttle, it should read "---" instead it'll show something between 12-13 afr. the third method is by feel. not everybody is keen on this but i can def tell when my car is hanging the rev.
I notice the EVO I have, new, doesn't rev 'fast', so when I rev it, and let off the gas, it takes a while to spool down. I assumed it was normal, but my STi will rev much faster and settle back down faster as well.

that's rev hang.

when i first revved my engine at a light, i was dumbfounded to see my rpm "stuck" at 3k. it stayed at 3k for a good 5-8 seconds before coming down.

Solution for this? It's not that severe with mine, but I don't feel like 'revving' at a light because it sounds funny and just kind of drones down slooooooowly.

i dont have that solution but you can search this forum and you should be able to find it. it had something to do with the switching maps back-and-forth, basically, not knowing which map to go to.

or if you have a reputable tuner, they should know what's up as well. unfortunately, when i got my car tuned, my tuner didn't have a clue as to what the issue was.
