Extended warrenty worth it?

That's actually a good idea, just put it in a separate savings acct, a lot of people see extra spending money in their checking acct and blow through it asap lol. I agree with the others, there's very few dealerships that honor warranty with a modded evo, mine used to because the guy who managed it was a fellow evo enthusiast.
I work for a dealer. We sell aftermarket warranties. And they are 100% a case of you get what you pay for, and buyer beware.
If you buy them when your car is brand new a CNA warranty is about 2600-3000 depending on dealer mark up. CNA covers literally everything except wear/maintenance items and is accepted at ANY ASE shop in North America.
Now that's an example of a good, albeit expensive, warranty. But not all 3rd party warranties are good. Some aren't widely accepted. Dealers to this on purpose. They sell you some ****ty warranty that you can't use anywhere but their shop and a select few other places. It forces you to give them the work.
Others have a lot of fine print explaining when they will/won't cover certain things. Or they may only cover powertain, no seals or gaskets. Generally these warranties are cheap.
Also, they get more expensive as your car gets older. Obviously older cars with more miles have a higher likelihood of them being used, thus they get higher rates.
If you're being offered a warranty at 100,000 miles it's probably not going to cover much. And it's going to be retardedly expensive. Read the fine print.
