Should I buy this MR?

I currently have a built evo 8 and I am looking for a car to use as a daily. I found a 2008 MR fully loaded with 36k miles for $27k. The KBB value is $31k. After researching on the forum, seems like people say to stay away from the '08 evo's due to possible timing chain stretch and weaker MR transmission. Do you guys think it is worth looking for a '10 that is around book value (most i found are being sold at the price) or go with the '08 that is being sold for less than book value? Appreciate the help.

that's not a good deal at all. 24k would be a good deal. But you can get a new one for only a few thousand more than that used one. New, with warranty. Message Socal Mitsubishi on here

you guys have good points, looks like I am better off looking for a '10+. The newer ones are priced lower and dont have navigation, which is not a big deal for me. The thing i did find that is odd is that newer ones seem to have less value compared to the '08. Right now, its between the '10 and '11, any reason to chose one over the other? '12 does not seem likely, my budget is $25k or close to it.

As far as I know, the SST in all years is the same..

The timing strecth thing is blown out of proportion to me. I DDd an 08 for 4+ Years and never had a single problem with it.

The price seems a bit high to me. I have a 2011 GSR with the same miles that would fetch about $28K in my local market. Admittedly the car has fewer options than a fully loaded MR, but it's also 3 years newer. If you could get that car for about 23 or 24 grand, at least in my area, it would be worth considering.

I can't speak to the timing chain stretch or weak tranny issues, though.

i just recently changed my timing belt. i have 114k miles. basic bolt ons with pro tune. been pushing 300+lbs ft torque at the wheel for 100k of those 114k miles.

timing chain issue is def blown out of proportion.
