Hi,

Recently started hearing this annoying, loud noise on start up. Usually in the morning after having parked over night or after an 8hr shift at work.

With frequent starts when running errands or generally when the engine is warm this noise is almost never there.

I have found threads with people experiencing noise form the pulley's or belts etc, but the noises seen/heard on youtube do not match the noise I am hearing.

I am assuming its the alternator but would like any advice from you guys.



Sound is around the 40 second mar. Excuse the quality and do not turn up the speakers !

might be the alternator belt, how old is it? Does it do it when you start the car after it's already warm?

 

i have similar issues with my gsr. i'm going to have my mechanic take a look while i build the head.

ikt .... I only get it when the car is cold. If i start the car when it is warm I don't get it.



Spoke to a mechanic, he didn't hear the noise himself but saw the video on my phone and suggested i change the belt and idler pulleys as suggested here

Thanks, will replace belt and most likely pulleys one time to get rid of those plastic hazards.
