Use same torque as the drain plug.

It may just be a magnetic plug solely to trap material at that point.

I would recommend pulling that plug/clean/inspect it as part of the servicing each time...

The bolt you had out is the fill plug. Not the one directly on top. When filling it you want the fluid to be right at the bottom of the hole. If you fill it through that top plug it would be overfull. Torque spec is 24ft/lb

My bad you're right! I was looking at it wrong. Maybe some trans rebuilders can chime in.

Double check to make sure, but, if that is in fact the reverse idler gear mounting bolt (seems to correspond in the service manual), then the recommended torque spec for that is 57 ft-lbs. You should be able to determine this, because that particular bolt appears to have some sort of gasket on it (crush washer is what it looks like). If the bolt is not what I have described, it seems that most other bolts of the same size on that transmission are rated at 24 ft-lbs. I hope that this helps.

^yeah, but... it has the magnetic tip - I would not expect that for a mounting bolt...

I had the same thought, but the illustration in the service manual seems to suggest that the bolt in question has a magnetic tip.

ignore that picture. he just took that from the "how to" on changing the transmission fluid. That bolt pictured with the magnetic tip is the drain bolt and is being shown for the how-to. Those aren't his pictures of his car. That's also why it's half cut off in the picture.

I admit OP should have done a better job of making the picture clear as to what he is talking about.
