New to the forum with questions
Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum but not new to the car world. Currently I dd a 1991 mustang and race my 2004 dodge ram srt10. I'm looking to get rid of my fox and get into a evo x.
Before I get one I'd like to know what I'm getting into.
I'm gonna be looking at a X But nothing older than a 2010 and nothing more than 25k miles
At what power do stock parts start to break?
What are the normal problems to look out for?
How much would I be looking at to make 450 whp and what mods to get there?
Is e85 a good option?
Is there anyone that can work on and tune the car around me? I live in Shreveport Louisiana about 3 hours east of Dallas Texas.
Can someone explain the major differences between the MR and GSR
specifically the transmissions
Personally I'd like auto cause the car will be a dd and I don't see the point.of having a manual 5 speed car. Kinda mind boggling to me that they didn't make it a 6 speed.
I appreciate all the info guys. I look forward to.being an active member of this community

the key here is the tq you wanna stay under 400 tq, my under standing is 450 Hp is fine on stock engine and trans exspecially if you use e-85
E-85 is deffinatly a good option for performance best thing you can do.
mods for 450hp
-turbo back exhaust
-intake
-gs 3 port
-1300 cc injectors
-fuel pump
-E 85
-tune
-probably a bit better flowing turbo like a fp red or something similar.
can get all for around $3500 if you look around
if you plan on modding i would suggest the 5 speed gsr its a bit stronger than the mr and cheaper for repairs.
MR is a great trans to though and not like a automatic it still uses cluches.
Hope this helps.

Hi, im not sure how to post threads and im really new to this website and was looking to receive some quick feedback from you guys. I drive a cobalt ss/sc currently with a few mods and have been highly looking to get into an EVO GSR 2010 model. the one im looking at has a few mods and im wondering if i can get some feedback on things i should check for and the questions i should ask! so the mods on this evo are as follow;
AMS COLD AIR INTAKE
DOWN PIPE
TIAL BOV
CARBON FIBRE HIGH MOUNT DIFFUSER
INTERCOOLER PIPING
also do you think this vehicle would have been tuned with that list of MODS or if it hasnt would it need to be?

u probably wanna get the clutch checked out(stock clutch suck *****).
TBE with fuel pump and injectors would probably get you around 400whp on e85, really depends on what dyno ur on and who tunes it, i'd say if u have a e85 stations near u do it, or just get dual maps when u get tuned
COBB Plano's near you, around 3 hr drive

gsr transmission is better for modding if you wanna make good power. its almost impossible to make 450 on stock turbo, so you would be looking at a turbo upgrade. intercooler piping, intercooler, exhaust, injectors and fuel pump and tune will get you around 400 whp, thats when you need an aftermarket turbo. like said previously, keep the torque down. keep it under 380, anything about that parts start breaking more. also clutch, im at 350 whp and about 320 wheel torque and my clutch went out.
