May buy this evo need advice

The guy said the oil nah be leaking from an oil plug on the flywheel he may of forgotten to tighten up all the way. Is it worth 16k for the risk that the leak could be a main seal? It only has 27k on it I'm not sure why the main seal would be leaking. Check out the photo attached and see what you guys think.

If you're really interested tell him to top off the fluids so you can try it out and really inspect the car. Unless you just want to take the risk and be prepared for the worst. Let's just say that you buy it from this guy and it turns out you have to get the tranny rebuilt. It's going to be about $2k. If you think you would be able to take this on financially then go ahead and just buy it

the only way I would buy this thing is if the price was right considering its going to need a rebuild. As long as you leave enough space in the price to pay for that..but I would pass unless you were planning to build the evo

I agree. If you do decide to get it, I would make sure you know what your getting into. See if you can have it brought somewhere to get it inspected. If your going to do a full build, I'd say go ahead as you would rebuild the broken pieces anyways. Only think that makes me wonder is that it has been sitting like that for 2 years and now he is selling...

He said he would take 17.5. Don't think it's worth it. I know something is wrong for sure. But I'm not trying to get 10k deep in repairs. You know?

There is no 'oil plug' on the flywheel. It is the main seal.

Either:
1. He is lying and trying to scam you. (what else is he not telling you?)
2. Too stupid and actually believes what he is saying... (stupid people do stupid things - like neglect maintenance or install mods without a proper tune when required)

If this is the only issue - then just get an estimate for a rear main seal replacement and reduce the price by that amount.

I would never even consider to get a car that has some mechanical problem especially when you do not know the exact reason that is causing it.

But if you do know why and there is 100% guarentee how to fix it, I might consider though

but... still... I would rather get one with no problem...

not always but mostly, there are reasons if the product is priced much cheaper than the average...
