Please help identify this noise

Hello,

I am having a hard time figuring out this squeak. It seems like it is coming from the steering rack but I did not know steering rack make these noises unless there is a bad bushings. It happens when I turn the wheels at a certain degree. Also does not make the noise when the car is off the ground which makes me think its the load on the steering rack but I might be wrong.

Is this as simple as lubing the steering rack bushings or is it much worse?

Thanks.

Have a dealer diagnose the problem.

Best way to identify the noise would be using chassis ears. If u r unable to get a set from autozone or other auto parts I would get....a loooong screwdriver, ramps (using ramps will keep the suspension loaded) and a second person to assist you. Drive the vehicle onto the ramps. Engage the e brake and block the rear wheels. While the assistant turns the wheel slightly reproducing the noise u need to put the metal end of your screwdriver on a steering component end the other to your ear to listen to the noise. (u can start outboard and work your way inwards. Starting with the outer tierod) Go from component to component... As the noise gets louder u r getting closer. Process of elimination. Shouldn't take long at all. Or take it in to the dealer. There is no way that noise is normal....
