OP if you really want an FE... go to Canada if you gonna pay that much for one.. their car is practically the unmolested LHD version of the JDM FE. Talk about getting royally jipped here in the US.

Watch the video and you will think twice about buying one here in the US.. and shows how stripped our FE is... not a big deal if you are going to mod the car as in swap wheels but those red stitched Recaros gives FE owners something unique to show for the money they paid for buying one. Instead we get this watered down car. I do take into account that it was not Mitsu's fault for the tougher airbag restrictions in 2015 model released US vehicles. To the guy that admitted that he should of waited... I give you props for admitting that he should of waited. Because all FE owners will defend their purchase to the end...

Um let me see.. you pay close to MSRP, no Recaros, no MR BBS... no thanks.. I will go to Canada and pay the import fees if I am going to pay the 46k for an Evo.

If you are thinking about getting an FE, just wait it out, because the prices will drop guaranteed because no one is gonna pay that much for an evo and dealers will be forced to drop the prices. The FE's are already not doing as well as mitsu projected so just wait it out. I know some people got their FE's for 36k out the door, so you just have to be patient and keep looking.
36k with all taxes etc etc out the door, would be nice to know if it was just the base model??

Update: There are available GSR's and MR's but they're all at the same price range as the FE's. (45-46k) I want to talk the price down but if that's their starting price, I wouldn't be able to take it down much.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to have one shipped to you?

I paid $37200 on a $38805 msrp. As far as I know, Mitsubishi has no dealer cash on the FE's, so I got a decent deal. To me it was worth it over a GSR for a few reasons. MR brakes, MR suspension, sodium filled exhaust valves, xenons, nicer paint (I have white), and the possibility that it may be worth a bit more down the road negating the couple of grand I paid extra up front. Matter of fact, I think overall the FE is cheaper than a GSR with SS package, considering the MR stuff in it. It's all perspective. Guys that bought base GSRs tell me they don't care about xenons, brakes or better suspension cause they can get some aftermarket hid's that blind everyone without actually producing better visibility, they can get some swift springs to make the car look better but handle worse, and the brakes, well, they don't matter. To each their own. Oh, lets not forget about the Recaros, because, racecar.

You make some valid points over the base GSR at the price YOU paid. But if you think stock suspension is better than Swift springs you're smoking some crack. Even GSR struts on Swifts is better than stock MR suspension. But again all bets are off if you're modding the car. It is well known and documented that Swift and Tarmacs are the best springs for the X hands down.
Best option here is for FE owners to upgrade to Swifts as they get the better set up over the base GSR struts.

The point of the thread is price and again, I think you got a great deal. But folks paying $4k over MSRP is just plain nonsense. Is the FE at price you paid a good deal? Yes. Is the USDM FE a better package than a base GSR at a $2-3k price difference? Yes. Is it worth paying the mark up addressed in this thread on top of MSRP? No to most folks but depends on your pockets and how much that person cares about the value of their dollar.

Read post 295, or the whole thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/pr...uild-s-20.html I personally respect razorlabs opinion a bit more than yours, but to each their own.
As far as people paying over MSRP, not a single person has said that they actually paid over MSRP. Dealers are asking over msrp, I'm sure some ahole somewhere is paying that, but most are paying msrp or under, at which point the car is worth it. In my opinion.

yea razorlab is one person. And the rest of the community including shops with plenty of research and experience vouche for the spring set up. And he upgraded to ohlins coils which makes it irrelevant anyways as it is well known they are probably the best coils out there.

Anyways.. Plenty of folks have paid over MSRP for FEs as there are at least two extensive threads stating so.. I said you got a good deal guy. Don't get butt hurt.. I could care less whether you respect my opinion.. It's factual information and I'm only sharing since it addresses the OPs original post.

Actually, he couldn't stand the Swifts, then upgraded to a cheap set of coilovers, which were miles better, then to ohlins. The point is, he tracks his car, and I've tracked my previous Evos, I intend to track this one too, so, his opinion means something to me. When the time comes, I'll just get the ohlins and be done with it. This really wasn't the point of the thread.
