Failed smog with e85...

So i had my smog test done today and to my surprise it failed but NOT for the e85 or the fact that i put the oem cat pipe on. It failed because i cleared a p0171 code an hour before driving to the smog place. He told me theres 3 out of 5 readiness check that the car needs to complete before the ecu can give a "pass". So the smog tech told me to drive around for a couple of hours and i did exactly that. Ive been checking with the Dash Command app and a ODB2 dongle, its still not "ready". As im driving home the darm p0171 keeps coming on!! and if i clear it ill reset the readiness code! anyone got any advise? or suggestions? Ive only had the e85 for about 2 months. My tuner thinks theres a leak causing the p0171 code but ive checked and double checked everything.

Your fuel trims are off. Check tune or hardware

**** capital of the world...California lol.

I spent the whole day taking my aem intake apart and found that it wasn't tighten all the way leaving a small gap. I can see black gunk inside the intake. So hopefully that'll fix the p0171 code.

yeah check that and all the lines to the manifold, if you wanna be 100% you have no leaks, let the car run and spray some carb cleaner on the vacuum lines on the mani, if the car starts idling funny, you got a leak.

So even with the oem cat back on I'm still getting the p0173 code. Either my fuel trim is really mess up or my o2 is going out.

I had the p0171 code that would come and go as well. It ended up being from a tiny leak in the uicp. I changed all the couplers and clamps over to tbolt clamps and the code never came back again, so far (~600miles on it fixed). Very happy about it, since it was getting on my nerves and for awhile i couldnt figure it out lol

So, did you check your fuel trims or should I suggest it three more times? One of them will be more than +/- 12.

Dash command can show you the trims, no need for evoscan if you don't have it.
