Hey guys! Can i use my OEM crank and just change my rods and pistons for a 2.0L build? What's the best route for a bottom end build? Should i just put in a stroker kit? Thanks!

Most builds as far as I am aware reuse the stock crank, unless you are stroking it of course. As far as what type of build is best, this really depends on your goals with the car. 900hp high revving dyno queen or 500hp low revving autocross star or something in between?

The stock motor already is reliable for DD. Opening up the motor, there is always a risk that reliability will be decreased, especially if it is your DD. Is there a particular reason you want to go the built route?

I just don't want it to break whenever I ride it hard and go WOT! and of course, I wanna put a bigger turbo on her... More hp, more torque = bent rods and a hole on the side of the motor.. Just wanna be safe is all..

You're thinking Subaru. As long as you have a good tuner and don't want 500+ hp there is no reason to get into the engine if that is what you are looking for. Just be sure when you have more power you don't do high load low RPM so things don't go boom.

No problem shooting for 400whp/350wtq on a stock motor. Something like an FP Green, MHI 18K, GTX3071R or GTX3076R will get you to that range. Most people that do a turbo upgrade don't build the motors and keep the torque reasonable. The builds are really required for the big turbos or if you are looking for high torque, but a proper build cost is going to be like $10K-20K.

My engine blew with an mhi 18k and basic bolt ons. Building an engine is expensive. It is cheaper if you can do the work yourself. It can take a while to build as well.

Sounds like you had an issue with your tune, as it shouldn't have blown with those mods.

Finding a good tuner is more critical than choosing the right parts.

Agreed. The stock 4B11T can hold sub-400 ft-lbs of torque and run forever. A simple 18K turbo upgrade with bolt-ons is well within the range.
