Oil leak on new evo x FE (2K miles)
Oil leak on new evo x FE (2K miles)
So I got 2K miles on my EVO X FE. Took it to a local shop to do a drive train flush. When they lifted the car up, they notice it was leaking oil. My shop didn't try to pin point the leak but recommended me to bring it back to the dealer since the car was still so new (covered by warranty). By the time I got around to look at the car, the under panel was already back on but it looks soaked with oil.
So I drove it to the dealer and they were surprised to see a leak this early on. The dealer will get back to me tomorrow morning and I can update everyone here. Let's hope it's no biggy and it's an isolated issue.
PS - did my own oil change at 1000 miles and noted there were no leaks then. Also, per quick inspection done by my local shop, they told me the oil does not appear to be coming from the oil filter nor the drain plug. Instead, it might be coming from the oil cooler area.

I did my oil change exactly at the 1K mile mark. I threw out the old crush washer and replaced it with a new one.
Just an update. Got my car back. The oil was leaking from the turbo cooler line. The dealer said the issue was with the gasket. Everything was replaced under warranty. They attributed the issue to incorrect factory assembly - w/e that means. So just a FYI for all the new EVO X FE owners out there.

OP, glad they fixed that for you.
Agree 100%. This is the exact reason why I don't limit myself to just buying new cars. If there is one thing I have learned over the past 7 years of owning an evo, it's that every car has its own story. Just because a car is brand new, doesn't mean it is problem free and just because a car has 60,000 miles on it, doesn't mean it has problems.

Glad to hear it worked out.
This is one of the reasons why I tell people to put some miles on the car before starting to mod. Just think if you had done some bolt-ons and the dealer noticed some bolts were not quite right. Who knows.
It sucks, but sometimes things happen at dealerships. All (most? a lot?) of 2010s had overfilled transfer cases that were resulting in the transfer cases blowing.
had to replace a lot of transfer cases on those cars. Eek.
