I smell nothing when driving.

Nothing.

And drive with windows down all the time and sunroof.

I have a catted test pipe and the rest of the little standard bits for basic boltons.

You will only smell things if you get a non catted test pipe.

At least get a high flow cat. you can only really smell the fumes when the car is still. You won't smell it while driving, or at least I don't. I'm also tuned on E85 do I don't mind the smell one bit.

I daily my car with a regular test pipe and usually I don't smell anything even when sitting still in traffic. I'm sure it sucks *** for the people behind me.

With a test pipe you don't smell fumes when you are driving. Only time is when you come to a stop at a light on a hot day really. I agree with everyone else. I gained 35 WHP from my testpipe.

Even sitting at stop lights I don't smell a thing, the only time I ever smell my fumes is when I'm warming up the car after work because I leave the door open to let the hot air out.

It's a high - flow - cat so - better than stock. Also a real tuner leverages a test pipe in whatever form because proper tuning of an EVO X leverages the bung on said test pipe to get the ideal reading for AF while tuning.

But it's ok, keep doing cocaine / coffee shots and raging on the internet despite 9871092830948 people agreeing with me about the test pipe.

Sorry you have a slower EVO because of your ignorance?

Also captain ****tard, I don't fight Houston traffic every day. I'm not a moron so I live close to work, close enough to ride a bike actually which I do when the weather is nice. So I drive my EVO when there isn't gridlock traffic, and I drive it hard. Had a fun sparring with a new 911 GT3 RS the other day actually, was amazingly entertaining!

Any other from your *** assumptions you would like to toss my way or did I cover everything from your salty rage tirade?

Dry those tears and show us on the doll where the bad man touched you.

Running a test pipe for 2 years now + E85... I hit traffic 98% of the time here in Los Angeles (405 freeway to be exact) and I smell nothing... and If I did, I'd get over it. I'm not sensitive like others here.

Oh and screw the 95% of garage queen evo owners!

Wow to this whole thread.

Test pipe is only a part of the exhaust system. Making the entire exhaust system less restrictive is one of the best things you can do with the vehicle. That's the only point anyone in this thread should be making. For instance: if you replace the downpipe with a dump pipe that dumps above a certain boost pressure (which is a part that exists for this car), then it doesn't matter what you do with the rest of the exhaust. Leave the oem if you want, you'll get the same performance results.

A tuner DOES NOT need a test pipe with an available bung to tune the vehicle. You could use one on the downpipe if you have one (like I do), or can do like 99.99999% of tuners and have a clip on AF sensor that attaches to the tailpipe. They all work fine.

As for smell, of course you can smell it in the right conditions. The smell depends on gas you use, on driving conditions, on wind direction when stopped...

When you get rid of the cat you will have lots of un-burnt hydrocarbons coming out the exhaust. These do have a smell and therefore can be smelled. If you don't smell them you either don't know what the smell is, or you aren't ever paying attention to it, or you never drive with the windows down.

But that said, it isn't bad or overwhelming. I'm pretty sensitive to smells (always have been), but not having a cat doesn't bother me at all.

Jesus this thread got all blown out of proportion too quick.
I for one like the environment. Call me what you will. I know I am not necessarily part of the solution but I don't need to make the problem a whole lot worse is how I see it.
My question is... I don't want to do without a catalytic converter. Is my only option a high flow cat? And does it really conform to the same standards as a normal cat or no?

if u like test pipe then good for you. its not for everyone and i sure hate it.
u dont need a dam test pipe for a street car and i assure you that those with test pipes arent even daily driving their cars let alone "using" all that power all the time. 95% of evo owners have their evos in the garage over 5 days a week.

sure best bang for buck, but to each their own.

and no u dont "need" a test pipe to get a good tune.
Im a 2014 evo x owner with 30k miles. Been having a test pipe since 5k miles and I commute 650 miles a week

Probably a stupid question but are the fumes going to be visible if I get a non catted test pipe? In combination with ETS Intake + ETS o2 dump down pipe + ETS test pipe + v2 regular on 91.
