Harness bar

Is it possible to use takata 4 point harness on the oem evo x seats? Cuz I have 2015 GSR and they didn't come with Recaro seats and I hate them for that but anyways I was wondering is it possible to use those those seats since they don't have the holes like the recaros instead of buying a bucket seat

Most of the guys here who run harnesses do so with a full cage, since they're doing track/autocross events. Since a harness bar makes the rear seats unusable, there's really no point in not just doing a full cage.

There were some bolt in harness bars in 2008 / 2009, I haven't heard much lately. But essentially they are structurally inadequate in the event of a rollover. There have been a number of threads in the past where passengers have been seriously hurt with just a harness bar and not a cage. Factory 3 point harness is considered much safer. I guess all I'm saying is do what you want, but please be careful.

Don't run harnesses in a street car.
Don't use a harness bar in a race car (no sanctioning body allows them).

Any questions?

I mean, there's nothing wrong with running 5+ point harnesses in a street car, but only if you don't cut corners. Remove airbags, full cage, remove backseat, etc. It's the cutting corners and getting submarined out of a 4-point harness that is bad on street cars.

But there you have it OP, if you want to run a harness. Get a full cage and convert to a race car, there's no need for them on the street.

Well, if you put a full cage in a car, to accommodate your 5+ point harness, you'll be needing a helmet when you drive your street car unless you want your skull shattered in an accident.

Not doing a full cage? Then your 5+ point harness will kill you in a rollover if your roof compresses. A stock 3 point belt will allow your body/head to move forward. Your harness will keep you nice and upright as your car crushes your skull.

Like I said, let's keep the harnesses in the track cars. Oh, and OP, if you're looking to be held into your stock seat a little better, take a look at the CG-Lock. It probably won't try to kill you.

All you need is one of these unless your X is a full track car. Great for daily. Normal for the commute, cinch it down for the twisties.
