PS: The Evo shifter is a step down when compared to something great like an S2000 or even an old Integra type R. Honda did it right.

Even if if it did have great feel nearly all of them Need be fixed due to the 4th gear issue. At least the Jetta worked right. I'm pretty sure my friends family still owns that Jetta.

Have you actually driven an RS? It is nothing remotely like a mid 90s Volkswagen transmission. It seems you have some personal bias against your ST that is clouding your rationality. The fact you used to be a trucker doesn't make you the authority on all things transmission, apparently just a little more crusty than others when it comes to harsh opinions.

yeah honda can make a great gearbox. I had a 2006 Si with the third gear issue, drove a 2015 Si for a while, great car other than it nearly ran itself out of oil in 2500 miles! That 2.4 was junk. The evo transmission isn't perfect but I enjoy it, perhaps because it's not just clutch and slam at every RPM but that you have to drive it right and that it lets you know what's happening.

i hear Honda again has a third gear issue in the 10th gen.

I had a friend with an 08 Si that I loved and it would do the same thing with oil consumption. It was a shame, because otherwise it was a fantastic car.

I still daily my 07 Si.. it'll go through at least a quart or more every 2,500-3,000 miles. Switching to 5w40 has seemed to help it some

The oil consumption is not as bad in the 9th gen (I own a 2012), but the widespread clutch spring failure definitely is. Otherwise they are fantastic cars.

I've always loved my evo's 6, even compared to the s2k's - sacrilege I know.

I've seen some bone stock ones at autox and they are surprisingly quick. I think the car is better setup out of the box for motorsport action. start modding though, and the evo takes it away.

no idea on straight line speed

I'm not really talking about on a figure 8. most autox courses I run on have everything from tight turn arounds/digs, chicanes, and open stretches up to 70mph. you can't really say anything is fast from basically a figure 8 like that

Getting back to the RS. Saw a video of one in the snow, over a two second delay for the rear to start spinning. I love how they claim much faster times. Just like the torque split % that has to be gearing and time dependent as I doubt it can clamp 70% to the rear for very long especially since many guys over heat the rear end.

Hondas i vtm 4 it seems has two pumps I think this system has promise, sucks it's not in the type R.

where's the video?

one of the car's better claims is that its always driving the rear wheels, as opposed to a haldex which is only part-time

Well that's very telling, and disappointing.

Local RS owner insisted on running my car, we all know how that ended...LOL.

I got to drive his car though, it was pretty good. Having driven a new Golf R, I would probably take the R if I was going to go out today and buy a daily.
