Anyone ran with an RS?

I was passenger in a Focus RS today around a small track. It felt faster than the evo to me in all honesty and the RS was stock. Just curious if some of you have met one on the streets or track? The RS isn't my style but it's definitely a badass car!

My buddy has one. He has a filter and cobb stage 1 tune.

I have bolt ons with an FPgreen. 417whp.

We went from like a 25 roll. He stuck with me off the go then I slowly started pulling him. By about 100 I had about 4-5 cars on him. I have a ****ty cell phone vid I'll try to upload it when I get some time. I was very suprised.

You are surprised that your Evo with bolt ons and 417hp to the wheels beat a almost stock RS that even with that stage 1 tune is probably putting down about 280/290 to the wheels?

Umm yeah, that beating is about right.

Stock for stock I have watched RS's smoke the Evo, and rightfully so, modded cars are obviously different.

Um yeah, surprised is what I said. Surprised with how fast it was for being stock, not that I beat it.

Fast it may be but man is it ugly. Took my wife to see it just because it was neat and new and at a car show so I wanted to see it in person. She was all 'oooh ahhh' but I was like 'Hold on honey let me sit in it'. So I did and she was like 'Oh yeah it's still just an ugly Focus' lol

Neat tech, but I can't drive a Focus it's just too horrid looking.

It might be faster in a straight line stock but that's all it will ever be. For one after market support won't ever be like the evolution. Second it's numb to drive no feel in the weak gearbox, and electric power steering

I test drove one for 4 days, stock for stock the RS will walk away from a stock evo.
It feels like retuned stock STI. Start pulling hard down low , and very smooth power band makes it feels like starts tappering out at top. But don't be fooled the car still pulling and fast.
Doesn't have a Evo turbo rush though which I missed.

I don't think is ugly. Its looks good. Inside is nice ( granted I had a fully loaded version) good materials for every day etc. Only complain is the suspension is harsh, period.
Its very handy actually for every day , its a hatch back with tons of rooms if needs to be.
It does blend into the traffic though.

In Eu these rally breed cars are just as big as exotics. So with an evo you actually a show stopper.
In 4 days I might got 4 -5 people recognize what I am having ... lol

I agree on the steering, the EVo steering is a lot more alive. The RS also has very heavy steering wheel feel compare to the EVo. Its not bad but not impair with the EVo for sure.

But the gear box... man it has a good gearbox for driving. I actually loved it. Specially the 6th gear lol

The RS definitely felt like it had more power in higher RPM's. The shifts felt very nice as well. The interior felt like it was better quality all around, although I still prefer the simplicity of the evo. The drift mode got the tail out for some fun but not comparible to RWD. I was very impressed with the focus but would likely still buy an evo due to style and price difference. The rear brake calipers on the Evo also look much nicer . It's the little things!

after I drove the RS, I still have a same feeling as this guy from 2008
I never worried about power when comes down to rally breeds, They are all easy to get up to the level you need.

But the driving feel at the limit is what's decides for ME.

let him sums it up my feelings in 52 seconds lol

No feel in the weak gearbox? Not on this planet. That RS transmission and shifter are best in this class and humiliate our junky five speed box.
