So today I gased up the evo at a e85 station that I normally visit and to my surprise my ethanol analyzer reads 68!! The lowest I've had was 78 and I just take it easy until I can refill it back up and hopefully I can get a good mix. My question is can I run the 68 for now? I can feel the car running like $h!t.

 

Anyone?

 

I wouldn't get on it. Report that station and fuel somewhere else. I would complain very high up the chain. Problem with all fuel is that it's splash blended, it's going to vary a lot depending on who's doing it.

 

FYI a lot of ethanol stations in the country are getting a new mix of E54. Already hit Arizona and Nevada on the west coast. CA could be next. I would start testing every time you fill up to be safe.

 

Wells that's a bummer. There's at least 7-8 station in San Diego. If they all goes to $%\! Then I'll just run 91.

 

I would still run E54 over 91 any day of the week.

 

Why? Isn't it like your suppose to run 91 but you run 86? I always thought anything lower then e85 would mess up your engine. I'm not tune for anything lower.

 

Unknown fuel mix + turbo car = I'd go back to 91 power be damned imo.

 

get a flex fuel setup and have it tuned on the highest and lowest ethanol you see and then no more worries at all.

 

Question is how do I drain 11 gallons of it?! I can drive around for about 2 he's but that'll probably half a tank.

I just got a it tune so getting flex fuel that'll be another $500-600.

 

There's more info on this located in the thread below. There are stickers being added to all of the pumps like that saying that the "e85" you are pumping could be anywhere from 50 - 85% ethanol.

The pumps around Cleveland, Ohio have the same sticker as of a few months ago, fyi.
