Should I buy this Evo?
Should I buy this Evo?
I'm currently in the market for an Evo X, and I came across this evo:

It's pretty close to my price range but I think I'll be able to haggle him down a little bit. It does have a rebuilt title, and here is the link to the car when it was damaged:

After all, the car only has 27,000 miles so if the damage was only cosmetic like the owner says, it seems like a good deal. It does have a Injen exhaust, and a stp intake. This car will be my daily, so I'm looking for a car that is as stock as possible. Is it likely that this car was also tuned? Will these mods sacrifice the cars reliability?
I appreciate your response, and after all I am new to Evos so bare with me.

21500 seems rather high for a salvage title, but i am not an x owner... it seems to have alot of wires and piping exposed through that "cosmetic" hole to risk everything being fixed. how many miles has it been driven since repair?
well i guess if it has had 12k put on it afterwards the reliability should not be an issue after a full check up but again im not an x owner i only hear the horror stories from the locals , kbb puts car at 13,000 value in excellent condition.... as a side note i relise evos always sell above kbb due to demand but something to consider...
I personally wouldn't pay more than 60% fair market value for a rebuilt title car, and you should be prepared to drive it into the dirt because selling it will draw a very small market of people willing to consider buying rebuilt.

I would not buy a salvage car resale is **** because, as Nsomniac said, there is a very small group of people willing to buy them. Especially on a car like an Evo. A regular car like a civic or Altima is a little different.
Yeah I see what your saying, but if the car really is in good condition, it's a steal. I do not intend on selling the car. It will be my daily for a few years until I get a new car, and then it will likely be a project car. I will definitely inspect the car closely though. Not planning on paying any more then 17500 for the car as it has been on craigslist for like a year, and it is rebuilt.

There are other Evo X's out there similar to this price range with clean titles with maybe a little more mileage and older but stay patient and I guarantee you will find one. I was close to buying a 2008 GSR with 60k for $16,500 late last year. Clean title and original owner in his late 50's selling because he got an MR and wanted an auto.
As everybody else said, proceed with extreme caution.
With that said, it is nice to know exactly what the prior damage looked like if you do decide you want to look into it further. Get an extremely thorough inspection and make sure it includes checking the alignment is within spec (and that something isn't way out of normal adjustment range to keep it within spec).
Will be difficult to insure, finance.
