When you do fluid maintenance on the rear diff, you should have opened TWO drain plugs and TWO fill plugs and used TWO different types of fluid.

i just did this on an Evo X and will being doing it on my X again here soon. If there are no good youtubes on the process I will try to document mine for posterity.
A vid would be amazing. Thanks.

Yeah it's as simple as that. The rear diff is divided into two sections. The gear section that takes the LSD oil and the wet clutch section that takes ATF.

The whole AYC/ACD hydraulic pressure actuated section is separate and pressurized. It has bleed screws up near the transfer case area and has the reservoir in the trunk and the pump/accumulator behind the rear passenger tire. This is the ATF part that you DON'T touch. You would have to be doing something very wrong to tap into that.

if you follow the service manual on the rear diff service then you are doing it right.

AWESOME! Thank you! Was pretty daunting stuff til now. Appreciate it! I thought the tank in the trunk was for the ATF oil I was changing underneath right next to the LSD oil. Thanks for clarifying that for me too!
