Help! Can’t unlock car!

Hey guys, just for reference I have a 2014 Evo X MR. So last night I parked my car and locked it with the key fab and it didn’t make a noise, no lights went off, so I thought it was weird from the start. Tried unlocking it with the fab no luck, tried putting the key in the key cylinder on the drivers side door (only have one on that door) and it didn’t work either. Went back to my apartment and prayed that it work in the morning, but unfortunately it didn’t. Took an Uber to work and my evo is stuck on the street. Key battery is fine, still lights up when I push buttons. Wtf do I do?? Has this happened to anyone else??

Why doesn't the key work on the driver's door? It's probably a dead battery.... If you can't get the key to work int the lock cylinder, you're looking at a locksmith who can airbag the door open and toggle the lock switch.

The key should work in the door, it's mechanical.

This happened to my wife's lancer. Battery died and key wouldnt open driver door. I had to pop the front grill to get to the hood cable and get the hood open to give it a boost. I didnt want anyone forcing the door open.

My key I guess just lost connection to the car, I had left my spare key at my mom's house when I moved out but I had her drop it off and the car opened up. Weirdest thing. Still doesn't explain why the actual key itself didn't open the door. I'm the second owner of this car but the first was a lease, do you think they changed the ignition for any reason? It would explain why the physical key didn't open the door, but what would be the reasoning behind that?

Glad to hear you got back in! Check your spare key to see if it opens the driver's door. If not, it might be worth having a locksmith get the cylinder replaced so you don't get screwed if your battery goes flat someday.

My physical key that is in the fob works with the battery disconnected. Something else is going on here.

Yeah, that's why I suspect the guy who owned it before me changed the ignition. But why? What would be the point of that?

I have seen other posters on here before saying that the key in the fob wouldn't open the lock either.

Maybe some got switched up or the wrong key was put in the fob from the dealer?

Again, not entirely sure man. I've been trying to look more into it but it's been a very busy time of the year for me. If/when I figure it out i'll be sure to post it here just because I know this has happened to others and out of general curiosity of others as well

I know a bunch of people who've had dead batteries and haven't been able to open their doors with the physical key. I tried myself to test this out myself and I found out my physical key doesn't unlock my door either?
For my firiend's that got locked out of their cars, we ended up getting a buddy who worked in an bodyshop to break into them with a coat hanger.
