You think I should put piping and lines(vacuum) back together, check/change oil to see if still sounds like that? I just dont want to cause more damage(if there is any)
Im assuming here, but since the lines and piping are disconnected will cause the car to start and die immediately right? No CEL codes popping up, I will try and get a video snippet so everyone can have a better idea of what I mean. But what happens is the car starts goes to I want to say 1500RPM for s split second then dies. If I do this consistently you get the rich smell of gas. Which tells me its not getting enough air or the maf thinks its getting too much air.
Out of interest
Is there anyone near you who does exchange motors?
It maybe worth your while.to do an exchange motor it will save you a lot of work and get a replacement motor with a warranty.
Not sure if they have that kind of service in the USA , some countries do.
Hook everything up, intercooler pipes, maf, change the oil and get it to idle before you determine how bad the knock is. The motor might not even be getting up enough oil pressure in those 2 seconds it stays running. Especially if it's been sitting for a long period of time with low or no oil in it.
If it is knocking, your not going to make anything any worse by running it at idle for a min. The damage will have already been done. Just don't red line it or anything

Not so good news, I cut open the oil filter and see copper and metal shavings. So seems to be a busted bearing. I will pull of the pan to see if can feel the busted bearing. Once confirmed I will be tearing down the block. I attached a picture for your viewing.
@bumblebee.4G69
Some places do offer that but havent found one near me yet. I was quoted 4k usd for a used block the other day
@DeeezNuuuts83
Im hoping so haha, So far no where near 15k not even close to a 3rd of that yet haha. Now me and the scientist have to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings the previous owner fried. Among other things
@letsgetthisdone
That what I was assuming, I just wanted to ask to be sure. but with the shavings I found from the oil filter I think I am going to start the engine removal.
@ak47m203
Valid point, but I have replaced the complete harness and no codes or errors have popped up since then aside from the brake light. Which is caused by the e brake being engaged.
@Matthew Blunk
I still may entertain that, but with the shavings from the oil filter might just get the rebuild started.
Below is the picture of the oil filter apart, Also the pan was completely cleaned out and dried before performing this task.

Agreed, but again at that price I paid for this I am really not bothered by it. I do have a lead on a 4b11t engine that may be cheaper then my last quote, ill be chasing that down tomorrow. I know this isnt for the faint of heart but I enjoy my hobby and will make it work. To be honest, it makes me wonder if the fire was intentional. Not pointing any fingers, but as people say the source of the fire was an odd place to start, and now to find out there was a rodnock. Just makes me wonder
I was wondering the same thing.
Seems odd that headlights would cause so much damage and so much heat.
I hope the new lead for the motor works out well for you
While I wait for a response can anyone chime in and give me a rough price of how much these engines run. I know it depends on mileage and if it has been rebuilt or what not. I have seen them between 3500-5000 usd, is that a good price?
