Evo x mr lost 1st 3rd and 5th
So I went to crank my 2010 evo with 90,565 miles the other morning and it crunk then instantly made a loud grinding noise is if you missed a gear in a straight drive... I backed out of the driveway and made it fifty yards before the car dinged and said transmission service required and then threw me down to 1st and wouldn’t shift out, not sure what was goin on switched over to slap shift and it left me have 2nd 4th and 6th...... I’m pretty sure this means a new tranny if so, if anyone’s had this problem and had it fixed can I get an idea of what this is going to run me
It's not reading the signal from the 4th gear shift fork. Either the magnet is really dirty with metal shavings or, more likely, the magnet broke off. You're going to be getting a rebuild

Chances are it's a magnet or two that came loose so you're looking at a rebuild / new transmission. When mine did that it was ~4500 to repair with Kozmic and I'm local to them. Good luck!
Basically the adhesive used to attach the magnet is not able to handle the heat cycles, in some case / some transmissions - so that gives way and the magnet comes loose - game over. It is usually fixable, as the transmission does a great job of protecting itself in most cases - however getting in there and repairing it is costly - even dropping the transmission and shipping it might be costly.
You may want to consider getting in touch with Kozmic Motorsports and see if they have a 'built / refurbished' transmission that's ready to go - then maybe you send them yours and they send you their and you get some sort of a discount depending on the condition of yours? Just an idea.
Good luck - been there bud it's a big number when talking repair / replace SST.

Good luck with the fix, hope you find a way to retain the beast and keep it runnin. I've moved on from the platform but always have a soft spot for it because it's such a great car. Cheers -
