Did a boost leak test need help??
Hi did a boost leak test in my MR the thing is that i put 23psi of boost and to my surprise never had that happen the oil dipstick flew off the whole engine bay got full of oil. Then went ahead cleaned the mess and to my second surprise started the car and a ton of smoke was coming out of the exhaust checked the spark plugs they are fine iam at lost what could this be? Thanks
i drove a couple miles and the smoking just stopped.

You should be removing the intake and testing it from the turbo inlet. The intake pipe is not meant to see boost.

You pressurized the crank case, because the vent hose from the intake to the valve cover goes to the crankcase.
Either disconnect that hose (and the boost solenoid hoses and BOV tube) and cap the nipples or take the intake off and attach the tester straight to the turbo
After your fun event, I would also check that you didn't blow the turbo oil return line o-ring (where it goes into the block) or you are going to have an oil leak.

Good to hear. Your dipstick saved that probably.
FYI, I had my dipstick shoot out mid 3rd gear pull. My PCV valve failed and pressurized the crankcase, basically what you did. All of a sudden oil all over my windshield. I thought the motor blew. Made a HUGE mess. I had no towels with me so I had to use my shirt to wipe the oil off the window so I could drive home. lol
I think I am still finding oil in the engine bay two years later from that.
