So, here’s my story. Owned a 2004 Evo 8 back in the mid 2000’s. Built the hell out of it, beat the hell out of it. Engine went boom and I moved on. Recently got the Evo itch and bought a FE since I never owned any version of the X. My plan is to build it the right way and have a fun car I can track and drive around town.
I probably paid way too much for it and it was from another state so I didn’t see it in person but with 50k miles I figured it saw some mods and a little love. The car arrived yesterday and there are quite a few issues that weren’t mentioned. Driver A pillar fell off when driving, engine surges at idle, the entire engine plastic skid is gone. Sun damage to the rear seats. A lot of signs that it was modded like brand new clamps and disheveled engine bay.
All that was expected but the killer for me is that the car appears to have been repainted and not very well. The color is right but it looks to be a unprofessional job. There is old mark off tape stuck to small areas around the lights and grill. Over spray on most of the black moldings and plastics and even some on the windows They got paint everywhere. In my opinion this brings the car to the fair condition category. Should I send the car back and wash my hands of it or try to get quite a bit of money knocked off? Sorry for the long post I’m just not sure where to go from here and looking for some advice.
I would run so far away from that. So, none of that was shown in the photos before you purchased it? How is that possible.
I honestly think the pictures were of a different car. So many things were off about this car compared to the one in the picture. Its about to be picked up and taken back so its not my problem anymore.
I had some time to really go over the car. There were major wrench marks on most of the body panel bolts. Something happened to this car and a previous owner really tried to cover it up because nothing was on the carfax. Stay away from FE# 1532
