Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
There were a lot of people who hated the new nose on the Evo VIII, but no one seems to be *****ing about it now. But like the article says, it's not exactly what the car will look like. It's very rare when a production model looks like an artist's rendition. I think it has potential, and the engine information sounds interesting.
Yea, that thing is butt ugly man... I'm hoping that they will not make it. I dont get what these car designers at mitsu are thinking. One thing I know for sure is that they need major help in getting their perception corrected.

I dont want a new engine......it will turn out with all the problems like the 2.5 STi engine....YUK
better be 4g63 or no EVO for me
It looks very much like a concept to me, really doesn't give me a good idea of what it will really look like. Too blocky or something, kind of reminds me of an uglier RSX, really reminds me of the Celica in the rear! Not a GTO though, Pontiac made the GTO look like a big Cavalier imho.
I'm not going to complain too much, how many of us like evos because of how they look!? Hopefully they'll do some work with aero-dynamics on the new one, thats one of the things I've heard the Evo needs help with. Is this right? It would be nice if they would use a wind tunnel on the evo, they've thought of almost everything else.

vegasboy301 THUMBS DOWN>... definetly. i think the 8 is going to be the best.
I can’t help to think that the front end looks like a pig’s face for some reason. I think if the entire front was painted to match the rest of the car it would help. A new platform sounds interesting. A new engine better be as tunable as the 4g63 or
.

This happens all the time, and it really irritates me. Owners of the current car (any car being redesigned) will usually hate the new vehicle with a passion. I find it quite funny. To all of you that are complaining, lets be realistic here.
1) Will the car look exactly like that? No, it wont. Its a design study. The car might have quite a few similarities with what reaches production, but dont be so quick to judge an unfinished product.
2) Mitsu is hurting right now, losing money and not selling many cars. Regardless of what it looks like, lets all feel fortunate that there will be an Evo X. It would be very easy for Mitsu to pull the plug on the Evo, and concentrate on cars that have a higher margin of return.
3) Personally, I dont feel it looks that bad. Look at all of the other Mitsus and their "corporate image." That concept looks much better than the split grill designs most Mitsus are now sporting. Say what you want, but it could have been much worse.
Back to the VIII being the best, lets not be ignorant. I believe back when this place was refered to as the "LancerForums" plenty of people complained about the VIII, how the VII was superior. Hell I even remember people still not excepting the VII and wishing Mitsu never stopped doing the VI. Lets give it some time and see what Mitsu does, the increase in horsepower and other engine vitals Im sure is to help cope with what will probably be a larger car; but dont get down on Mitsu yet. I mean they have done 8 great versions so far (well if you dont count the .5 variations,
), so I can assume the next Evo will live up to tradition. Im sure the engineers at Mitsu have not stuck their heads in the ground and become deaf to performance design.
yeah i'd have to agree it doesn't look great, but not horrible. did anyone happen to see the GT-R concept in the new R&T issue? that doesn't look too great, either. anyway, it's possible that they'll change it. i'd be willing to take it over my car anyday, tho.

yeah im one of those that didnt much like the looks of the 8 when it came out. Got mostly used to it. Still not the hottest car to me. But I bought one anyway. I figure, I wont look be looking at it from the outside if I'm driving it. If that thing (X) has the performance it's saying it will, I'd get it too. Tho I wouldnt mind it looking a slight bit better. Which I'm sure it will. If you compare the current 8 to the artist renderings of what they thought it was going to be, I think there was an improvement.
There's always a better version around the corner. I dont know why people always think what they own is best.
I personally like the looks of the 5 the best.
