How to: Change the springs
I would STRONGLY suggest investing in an impact wrench if you do not already have one, or maybe just borrow one from a friend. It will be very difficult to get the top nut off the front strut with out one. I ended up having to take the front struts to a shop for them to swap the springs out. Now I have an impact wrench tho... But I would try to find one if I were you.
But like was stated earlier, shouldn't take more than a few hours. And you can rent the spring compressors from Auto-zone for free- you just have to put down a deposit.

taken to my homies shop in the morning with struts to use the air pressure wrench
Why didn't you loosen that bolt when the car was on the ground? That way you don't need an impact as I explained earlier in the thread.
thanks!
For all you Evo X owners that want to change your springs yourself's, the route of loosening up the top bolt for the front two before removing them works amazing. But when you get the trunk youll realize that there is no way to possibly get anything into that tiny hole to loosen those top bolts. So just go ahead and take them out and when you get them out just take some vice grips and put it on the flat part of the bolt clamp it down then take a 14mm wrench to loosen that top bolt up. I just got done putting my springs in like an hour ago and that route worked perfect for me. The only reason you would want an air gun is to speed up the compressing and decompressing part.
