start button

anyone have this or know how to do this? part is from japanparts...but i'm afraid it comes with japanese instructions. plus this guy modded it to fit in the lighter which is alot cooler than the dash mount. i'd totally spend the $300 for this mod!

how freaking cool is that?

I heard its quite useless because you still have to turn your key to the "on" position before pressing the button.

its the oem mitsu start button kit. Its all plug and play and the only unique thing was how i installed the button at the lighter hole. Its all pretty straight forward. I dont read japanese, but the diagrams were pretty clear on the instructions manual.

No i cant start the car without turning the knob. Hence I dont think its a worthwile mod... Hence the reason for me not posting about it. I do have Fast Key.

The start button can be installed anywhere as long as you have a hole drilled out for it. theres 3 small screws behind that metal bezel on the start button that holds the button to whatever surface you mount it to.

I would say that if you frequently track your car it would be a worth while mod if you put the button in a easy to reach position. Coming from an S2000, I still had to put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position before pressing the start button. The beauty of the start button is that if you stall out for what ever reason on the track you can hit the button faster than trying to turn the key.

That is pretty useless.

It would be funny if it said "EASY" instead, like in the Staples commercials.

Can you post the link to the start button?

It would be possible to get rid of the key switch if you added a RUN/KILL switch and the button. I would suggest maybe relocating the Key to the floor, or arm rest.

This car when equiped with the SSS package should have come with a start button standard. One of my pet peeves. Why have a fob if you still have a turn a "key". Reminds me of my aunts dodge caravan from back in the day when all you had to do was turn the little protective guide knob thingies on either side of where the key was and it would start without a key. It was very ghetto lol.
