So my 2011 Evo X Fog lights...

burned out or didn't work so I set out to replace them with another set of 11's per the manual. I pull off the bottom section and this is what I found:

http://s1191.photobucket.com/albums/...3DIMAG0025.jpg

It was not the configuration I was expecting and I could not get the light out unless I disconnected the wire harness.

Need some help replacing these, but I not sure with what?

Any help greatly appreciated.

its an aftermarket HID kit. test the ballasts out to see if they went out, it might just be that instead of the bulb

how do you test the ballast?

btw, i think both went out at the same time. seems coincidental.

you can test the ballast by just powering up the bulbs with jumper wires or something like that. if both went out i would go over the wiring to see if something came loose

Which side did the fog light stop working? The simplest approach would be to plug the bulb into the working side and see if the bulb turns on.

If it does, then the ballast is your problem, if it doesn't then you know its the bulb.

Switch the bulbs around then you will know if its bulb or ballast. Also check your fuse!

Both bulbs went out at the same time and I was not able to pull the bulb out. It appeared that I would have to disconnect part of the wire harness. Checking the fuse shortly.
Thanks again.

Did you buy a really cheap Ebay set of HID's for the fogs or something? I mean, the screws/rivets are all rusted. Maybe some water got in there and fried them?

I did notice the rust and thought, what a bunch of cheap mfs. Anyway, the aftermarket fogs came with the car and they did work until we had some thick snow in Jersey back in October. I tried replacement fuse today and it burned that one out too.

As you know finding a short is painful, now I'm thinking replacement or delete unless there is a simpler way to figure this out.

I would either just delete them and buy the JDM RS covers or buy some better HIDs. I think they are some really cheap ones. Is there anyway you can go back to stock?

I am not sure stock is an option, but when I pull it apart this weekend I will check that out option since I have some 11s. Since the HID harness appears to be a plug and play, going back to stock should be an option. Thanks, that was helpful.

found these on the net that appear to match the one's in there now

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/37...n_Ballast.html

based on a quick review of these, they will be coming out this weekend and will revert to the 3000k stock bulbs I have until early January where its either delete or upgrade with real set up HID xenon conversions.

thanks again for all the input
