From an engineering stand point...
The rain and spray of water will not have an impact (in fact a slight increase as the water reduces charge temperature a wee bit letting the computer run a wee bit more advance timing (but, i digress))... No risk of hydrolock. No matter how hard it is raining [rolls eyes]Rest easy on that one.
The upside is increased airflow and if sealed to the box an increase in pressure as well...
If sealed to the box for performance the risk of a hydro-locked engine is higher for that huge stanigning water you should not drive through anyway... If not sealed - like the FQ400, the risk is no greater than a stock X.
Me? I would do it for the RA! (thanks for including baby brother in this design )
I want one for my Z too! But i already have the INJEN intake and may not see a worthwhile improvement...
The only downside i can think of is: the air filter will get dirtier/sooner (which is not a big deal if you have a washable filter).

If u have an open box filter, (injen, ETS, Cobb to name a few open element), that's more susceptible from getting it wet than this vent. Water splashing from undertray can get these filters wet. The vent wouldn't do it especially if it has the air guides. Mist would follow the air flow, but water splashes would actually get deterred from getting straight to it through ricochet effect. Every time it hits an object, the mass of the water ricocheting would be lessen.
Like Veronica said, the biggest concern would be changing/cleaning the air filters more often than without this vent. Getting waterlogged from this vent is next to nil in possibilities/probabilities.
So when r u gonna be a vendor for this and when is the first group buy? How much? Would it come in carbon fiber, metal or abs plastic? I would actually go for a hybrid, carbon fiber mount (where it can be readily seen from the outside/bumper), and abs plastic on the guides.
