My 2012 GSR came with crap headlights and I was wondering if anyone had bought just the headlight housings/w HID from the dealership and if so how much and do they insist on installing or let you walk away with them? Also if not from the dealership where can I get stock oem headlights. I just think the stock looks so much cleaner than aftermarket.

From what i've read, the prices are ridiculous on an OEM setup.. There's several threads on here with details on better replacements for a fraction of the cost

Depo Euro Style Headlights A.K.A "OEM Projector Headlights" /Thread

Cheaper, Cleaner, Better Cutoff and great Quality!! You can even add Hella Evox-R Projectors for a finer output.

In Australia the dealer would not add it to my GSR as a factory option.

Some people have been able to find a set and install it but it has cost them about AUD $3,500..

I dont know why it costs so much when it should just be a bolt in job?

i have halogens too and i decided to just upgrade the bulbs to HIR. after doing lots of research these are considered the brightest halogens you can get. they're not hid bright but they're way brighter than stock. you just need to modify the mount by cutting off a notch. no big deal.

i got them here:

You can find retros for non-SSS. I did the aftermarket and was not satisfied. You get what you pay for.

Why didn't Mitsu just put HID's in all Evo's, I mean they cost enough. I mean even Kia's have stock HID's. I just get so confused sometimes on the decisions Mitsu made on the most expensive and hi performance car they have. Why spare expense over BS halogens that they put on base model Lancer's. How hard is it to replace GSR to MR headlights? Also where can I get them?

Me too. I could have cared less about the Fosgate system. It was mainly about the HID's for me

there is a guy on the other forums that sells a no downtime package of a retrofitted depo projector headlight. he can do some custom work to them as he builds them to order.
