TPMS DIY Tool coming ???
Just an update to those interested. Stopped by at local Costco and they said they can program the car with a second set of sensors. All Costco's on the East Coast are now equipped with the Bartec tool and the Evo an all lancers are now covered. I will testing it out shortly when swapping to my winter set with costco tires on it.

So the original company (TPMS quickset) was a wash:they won't update anything and their customer service is horrible. When I called them about a year ago they said their tool would support lancers MAYBE in april. I sent 5 or so emails and have checked their compatibility list (its been about a year now) and still nothing. Forget them.
This is a followup post to fugifighter's post from back in July about Orange programmable sensors. They now have sensors that support 2008 lancers and the part number is sc36aa.

They are basically blank sensors you can program with an ID. The idea is to take the sensor ID's off your current TPMS and flash the orange sensors with the same ID. Then you can swap your two sets of wheels whenever and never have to go anywhere (dealer, costco).
The only problem for now is the tool. There is a Gen 1 tool which programs orange sensors but doesn't scan sensors for their ID (you would have to get the IDs some other way, either through a dealer or a shop that would read the codes for you). I tried calling around this summer asking if someone would read my sensor IDs and everyone i spoke to would not do it. I offered to pay for this at every place i called, just to let them know i wasn't looking for a freebie, and still no one seemed to even know what i was talking about. This tool is available, but the only barrier is getting a way to get the OEM sensor ID's.
Theres also a Gen 2 tool that writes AND reads sensors. You don't need the sensors, they can already be in the tires unlike the Gen 1 tool. This would be the end all, if you could get this you would be set. I called the company and they said they will be releasing the Gen 2 tool at SEMA this november and it would be available shortly after that.
I ordered 4 blank orange sensors and am going to call around and try to get someone to read my sensor IDs again and go from there. This is the most promising lead on DIY tool so far.

Tire rack has a "ATEQ TPM QuickSet Reset Tool" available for $ 125. Have any of you tried this system? Many of us want to be able to switch between winter and summer sets without going to dealer or tire shop. The PDF manual on Tire Racks website lists Mitsubishi as being supported. Is this a solution? Thanks.
Sorry...guess I should have read all the posts. Looks like the ATEQ has been discussed.

yeah unfortunately this tool does not support the lancer/outlander I dont know why it supports all other Mitsubishi from the same year.
i just bought this tool to use on my 2007 scion tc that my wife drives. a tire shop broke a tpms sensor and rather having just 1 sensor replaced and having dealer charge 95.00 to reprogram all 4 i just replaced all 4 tpms sensors and will reprogram them myself.
the tool is SUPER EASY to use and worked on the first try....if only it supported the lancers.
another thing about the tool (not that it matters to lancer owners) is it can only be used on 4 diff cars once its been used on 4 diff cars its useless to any other cars, it can only be re-used on one of the 4 original cars.
You could always remove all 4 factory TPMS and put the in a pressurized contained in the trunk. Then you would never need to worry about it. Take a pvc drain pipe, cap and glue both ends with the tpms inside, add an air valve and your done. under $10. Just an idea.

Won't work. The centrifugal force charges the sensors, and they also require a pressure differential. With no differential between the sensor and the outside of your valve stem, they'd think your tires were at 0 psi.

RE: OPSS Tool Compatibility
hide details Feb 17 (1 day ago)
Hello, thank you for an interest in our product.
Our technicians have been working on a programmable sensor for the Lancer as well as the Outlander. It seems that the previous published information on the required TPMS for these vehicles was incomplete.
There is more than one sensor for the make model and year on some of these vehicles.
The good news is we hope to have a compatible sensor before the end of spring this year.
Thank you again, Lisa

that is the only lead I had when I stopped pursuing this whole thing. When I was still looking last fall, they HAD a programmable TPMS available for the Evo. I got tired of looking for a solution and they told me they would be launching the Gen 2 reader so I just abandoned the whole thing. The Gen 2 is out now, I just need to call and ask for the price and order 4 programmable sensors and get this thing rolling again.
If you would like to call them its 1-888-407-8767 .
