A couple of issues I'm having

Let me preface with this: Bought my Evo used with about 6k miles, and it had been lowered using the Works springs.

Problem 1:
I've noticed this issue since I bought the car, even after I had a full alignment done. First, occasionally while I'm driving, I can hear the springs in the back shifting around. Almost like the springs aren't tight enough within the suspension and they are shifting left to right just slightly enough to make a sound almost like a "clang" when the rear shifts left to right in a turn, or when it gets a good sharp jolt. I'm not sure if I should be worried about this or not, but the shop that did my alignment didn't say anything about anything being loose back there.

Second, the back end of the car seems to "float" for too long when I hit a large enough bump in the road that will throw the back end up. It's almost as if the suspension needs to be adjusted, and isn't tight enough. I had an 09 Lancer GTS before the Evo, and I never noticed this floating sensation. This does not happen from sharp bumps, but from small hills in the road. It's especially bad if you hit one going around a corner. It feels like because the float, there's not enough pressure from the tires on the road, and it will get squirrley when the suspension settles.

Maybe these two issues are related to each other. Any thoughts??

Problem 2:
I've noticed a ticking sound coming from the left front wheel when in right turns (pressure into right front wheel). It does not do it in left turns. Also, it will do it if you sit in a parking lot and do slow circles to the right. It will also do it with very minor turning at higher speeds. The faster the wheel is turning, the more frequent the tick. I have no clue where this is coming from, but it has gotten progressively worse over the past few weeks. I'm not sure if the right front wheel does it too, because you can only hear this ticking sound with the driver window down, and when in a turn to the right.

I'm taking it to the dealer tonight for them to look at tomorrow, but I thought I'd see if anyone has any thoughts on it.

Thanks for the input!!

x3 on the cv joint for problem 2

as far the springs - just take the wheel off and see if they are seated the way they should be I guess?? Or if you have to remove the struts and examine them that way.

Problem 1: I have the same springs on the same Bilsteins shocks and have never experienced what you describe. The alignment guy would not have had a reason or access to check the top nuts on the shocks, I would start there and check if they are tight. If you experience "floating" it's almost as if the shocks are not doing their job.

See, I would have thought it was the CV joint too. But it wasn't a knocking noise, more of a ticking. I definitely know the sound of a bad CV joint, as I've had them go bad in previous vehicles.

I took the car to the dealer, and the dude couldn't reproduce the problem. Ridiculous cause it was doing it when I brought it in that morning. Anyway, the guy put it on the lift, removed the tire, checked some bolts and tightened a few things, and it doesn't do it anymore. I even took him on a ride to see if I could reproduce it, and I couldn't after he had worked on it. So I have no freaking clue what it could have been.

I'll look a bit closer at the rear springs....
