How to remove sheared nut on top of front strut?

Hey guys I accidentally screwed up taking this nut off....and now its all sheared up...no matter how hard I try, I can't get my 14mm back on top...it just keeps slipping off...

I'm hoping others had this issue and know a quick and simple solution....btw I tried fitting some vise grips on there, and damnit theres no room to work down there

looks like there's a bit of bite left on the bottom? Get a deep socket and try again. If that doesn't work get a smaller socket and hammer it on there. And if you're at wit's end.... cut the thing off with a dremel.

Agreed , looks like a bigger size deep socket could fit below the 14mm part.

They also make wrenches/sockets that are specially designed to take stripped nuts off of threads.

That second one is from my tool box. I couldn't find it online. It is still a craftsman though.

I vote the following:

1 case of beer
1 video camera
1 10lb sledge hammer
1 OxyAccetaline rig

I don't care what you do, just use the video camera and use the rest of the tools to get the nut off. Hilarity will ensue.

Have you tried a deep socket yet? A dremel can make a mess of things very quickly.

Your deep well socket isn't very deep. You should go to the store and get a deep well socket.

The bottom half of the nut looks bigger than 14 mm.

Use a chisel or long flathead screwdriver. Use a the screwdriver and hammer to make a "slit" on the nut. Hammer the nut out in direction to loosen the nut. Works everytime.

Hey guys...I was able to get the sheared nut off...thanks for everybody who inputted in this thread

Basically pphresh and rcheung took a look at my sheared nut...and realized the very bottom of the nut still has some bite left intact. They suggested I throw on some PB blaster and mash my 14mm deep onto there...I tried it and vola! worked like a charm.....I guess the PB blaster worked because I remember I tried jamming my 14mm deep socket in there without the PB blaster and it wouldn't budge.

Thanks again ya'll
