Replace Brake Pads Evo X

Hey guys it's about that time for me to replace my brake pads. She is a daily driver and I don't take her to the track. What set of pads would you recommend. I would prefer something that didn't dust as much as the stock brembos. Those things are nuts wen it comes to dusting.

Thanks for any and all help.

It's only 187 for the front and rear and I am on a budget.

Hawk also has this ceramic set which is only like 30 bucks more. What are some other benefits of ceramic over semi metallic beside less squeal and brake dust. I'm sorry if my questions are nutty this is my first performance car and I want to make sure I do this right.

bro, IMHO lancershop is a ripoff. I needed to replace pads and rotors, Front and rear, they quoted me $1200 for pads, rotors, and SS lines. All they'd save me was $30, I called JSC Speed and they got me cryo-stop centric rotors and Hawk HPS pads for $640 shipped...

OP, the Ceramic create no dust but the guy I spoke with said that he recommended the HPS for daily driving and spirited driving, If you're stop and go traffic, like I am, he didn't recommend the ceramic. I think they also produce some noise after a while. The HPS might produce some dust but it comes right off, it's not like the OEM pads. And if you're not braking hard and heavy I wouldn't worry about the dust too much. For the price you can get the Hawks, I would just do that if she's your daily driver and you're not tracking. We all like spirited driving, thats why we own the cars, but the ceramic won't do you justice on the road if you're daily driving and spirited driving. You'll get better response out of the HPS as well. For the price, you can't beat it to be honest. If you do the work yourself, after 30K miles, you should make sure you get your rotors checked. If they're out of spec you'll need to replace them. As far as your driving style, you don't need slotted. Since you're not tracking your car, you don't need the channel for exhaust gases under heavy rapid braking (tracking). An OEM replacement pad would work fine. As I mentioned, I got standard aftermarket performance rotors and hawk pads for a great deal. I'm not pumping up JSC, but I called around. Lancershop, EvoXparts.com (they are the same company FYU), AMS, JSC, and a few local shops. JSC offered me the best pricing, very flexible on cost.

i have the HPS...you'll lose some braking force compared to the oem pads, that i can guarantee you. the dust is very low (and is actually a brown-red dust, not black like oem). if you can get it, i recommend girodisc's magic pads. i have a set sitting here waiting for the HPS to wear out so i can slap those on.

Thanks and I will take your opinion into account. I have changed my own brakes on every car I have ever owned but they were always POSs and have changed out breaks on an VIII but this is my car and my first time actually doing research into decent brake pads so I want to do this right. I have to get my 30k done anyway so I will see what mitsu says about the rotors. Maybe I will have to end up doing both in the end.

I was checking those out earlier and this is the first I am hearing about them and have been trying to find reviews. I have heard a lot of good things about the Hawk HPS pads though.

Hawk generally makes very good pads. On my past cars I've used their HPS line and noticed a good improvement over the OEM pad. The evo x is the first car I would not recommend HPS pads for unless you're on a crusade to eliminate brake dust. Thing is - for what you paid, put some very good handling parts in there, including lightweight parts, big brakes, high performance tires, and brake pads. The HPS pads for the evo's case is actually a downgrade in terms of performance, and it is quite easily noticeable. Once my HPS pads wear out, I'm not going back to HPS, at least not for the x. I would go at least HP+, or like I previously mentioned, girodisc magic pads.

And to be honest I drive like a mad man I mean why else would I have gotten an Evo. So I know I would want something that can handle my driving and who knows maybe someday I will get her to the track.
