just cause you hate on Rotas for stupid reasons like it's "not a civic" does not make people who are smart and save 2k on wheels fan boys. its all about being objective on price vs. function. Personally, i could easily afford Volks but why waste 2 extra grand on something that will serve the exact same purpose for my intended use. of course, some people have an inferiority complex when it comes to only owning "name brand" products so those kind of people will spend the extra money just to feel good about themselves

Honestly it's just a "name brand" kind of difference.

There is clearly a visual difference. The rotas look crappy and heavy. Yes they even look heavy.

I agree it's not only name brand difference. The Volks i'm sure have higher quality finishes and of course are lighter since they are forged. But the question is whether those things are worth the extra money if youre gonna be using them as your DD wheels.

And im pretty sure when you look at them youre just biased from already knowing theyre heavier. unless you have a gift where you can actually discern a 4lb difference on an object that large (18.2lbs vs 22.5lbs for the wheels) just by looking at it

The cast Rota's are inferior to your forged BBS stock wheels. You will be downgrading performance and strength just for looks.

people always seem to make excuses when buying rotas/varrstroen replica wheels

those that can and want to buy Volks just do it.

How about a comparison between gram lights and stock bbs? I considered rotas too because volks/works emotion are currently out of budget, but gram lights is like 400 more than rotas....

Have you considered rpf's/ enkie, they are just a bit more than new rota's, plus you have the option to go 9.5+15 or 10.5+15, pm oakos they gave me the best deal, just fyi ive had both brands mentioned, tracked both did not feel the diff. Once your on the 350+ awhp it wont matter what brand your wheel is,its the width offset, suspension/ rubber/ brakes that will make the diff., so sold te's and meister got kw's, white line susp. Upgrades, improve braking ,01r's 275/35 on rpf's 18x10.5 +15, and i still smile everytime i think about my buddy's face after we tracked my car with his gt3 bottom line spend your money well, upgrade to improve, do things right the first time so ,no regrets

Stock enkei's were warped from 3 years of driving around the crap pot-hole ridden streets of Chicago.

While I have an immense amount of admiration for Volk wheels and the quality of build, that is an argument to get the Rota's if you live in an area with crappy roads. The TEs are far stronger, but you'd bite your lip and throw a fit everytime you hit a pothole or unexpected large bump. Trust me, I now live in a FAR better paved area, but still hate hitting potholes when I do occasionally drive around on the SLs.

Most of the time the SLs sit in bags in my appartment waiting for the next race event, or even not in bags just looking damn pretty. They get washed and waxed all the time. While they are the ultimate wheel, if you're going to DD and don't have tons of cash, just get the Rotas if that's the only other wheel you'll consider.

Personally I wouldn't get the Rota's though. Just cause I'd hate knowing everywhere I went they were knockoffs. If I didn't actively race my car, I'd actually be riding around on Weds wheels right now. I think those are the best DD wheel.

OP - from someone who had owned both.. I'm rocking some TE's right now.. there's really no difference. The only difference is the way I feel when I drive my car.. not that I think I'm better than folks that rocks Rota's(had CE28 knockoffs on my 350z) or whatever brand.. its because I've always wanted a set of TE's and it feels good that I saved up to get a used set. I couldnt justify, to myself, spending so much money on a brand new set so I got a used one instead . Don't be that person who spent money on something that they kinda settled for, wait and save up for something that you really want.

As long as your happy, that's all that matters.

Save the money and do the logical thing. Forget all these wheel snobs that think they're too good for rotas. The reliability issue is not an argument anymore, as it has been shown in tests that Rota's will hold up absolutely fine compared to other wheels. Your car will never be faster around the track or survive more potholes because you went with Volks over Rotas. It's all about personal preference and making the right buy for the price. Let people talk ****, but at the end of the day you have spent less money for a wheel that will perform exactly the same (and in my opinion looks better anyway).

If they are good enough for this car, then they are good enough for you and me lol

Don't get knock-offs. There are plenty of other less-expensive options out there that didn't blatantly steal someone elses design.

You must be referring to cosmetics. I mean, the wheels are manufactured using very different constraints. The concept behind Rota stealing the design, while offering a totally different wheel beyond something as superficial as appearance, doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.
