Cfamber Question

I'm in the process of turning my Evo into a dedicated track car. I'm not going to go to full slicks yet but I will get something like an Proxes RR. I have Ohlin R/T coilovers. I'm thinking -3 front and -2.5 rear. Is that too aggressive?

Not at all. I run -3.4 front.

Thanks. I know this is just a start and that I'll be tweaking the camber as I get used to the changes I'm planning to make. I haven't done a track day since last July and I'm still three months away from the car being ready, so I'm going to be a little rusty. I'll start the year with some RS4s that have three half track days from last yeard get a second set of Konigs for the Proxes RRs or equivalent.

It ends up depending a lot on the tire, and how aggressive you are. If you're just starting out at the track, I would suggest staying on a 200tw tire like the Hankook RS4, Bridgestone, RE71r, BFG Rival, etc for 10-15 track days. Sticky tires hide mistakes, so even though you're going faster, you may not be improving.

With 200tw tires you'll likely end up in the -2.5* to -3* and around -2* in the rear. Moving up to an Nitto NT01 or Toyo RR, a good baseline would be to add about .5* from where you were on the 200tw tires.

How do RS4's do on a heavier car like the Evo? I find on my Miata they're impossible to overheat, even on 100°+ track days... is that the same with Evo's or will they actually get greasy with the extra weight?

The RS4s do great. I've been tracking the Evo for about eight years and I beat on the tire pretty hard. I tried many different tires and the RS4s, and their predecessor RS3s, are my favorites but the RE-71s have also been good. They are a bit greasy in the first session because my run group is usually first on the track. The RS3 were fine on very hot days. Haven't run the RS4 in really hot weather yet because my last few track days have been cut short due to mechanicals. I'm getting a trailer and I'm going to make the Evo a full time track car, so I think its time I get some proper track tires. I currently run -2.5 F -1.8 R.

I'm amazed you have been getting away with only -2.5 on California tracks.

It's going to be like a whole new car with real camber.
