USDM EVO 8 is equivalent to what FQ EVO?
All cars are released from the factory with the same warranty, unless by law somehow, the factory can get away with providing you less protection. Are you so uninformed that you think the consumer protection in the US is somehow inferior to that of other countries? Trust me, if you get the warranty in the UK, you get it in the US. Period, end of story. So you very much are talking out of your *** when you presume this is not the case. While I certainly agree with you that most of the clutch issues here are driver related, this in NO WAY implies that the warranty issued on said clutches is any different. At all.
The reason there isn't a warranty issue is because people don't cry when they burn out their clutches. And well. The MR has a warranty. The performance versions of all other manufactured vehicles in this country, such as the Integra Type R, have warranties. High HP applications both import and domestic, all have warranties. So maybe that last sentence of yours is more universally applicable to your general state of mind than it is your semi-rhetorical question. :P
There is no such warranty issue in the Uk as there is here and yes, it is a financial reason they sell the FQXXX's but do you think they would ever consider extending a warranty for the same models in this country? I think not.
the FQ cars are different than the regular evo. they are slightly tuned versions, not just bumped up hp. they're special editions and they're only available in the UK. they also don't get the MR over there, so think of the FQs as sort of their version of the MR. they have bilsteins and different interiors and stuff, I'm not sure what all the differences are. also, the base evo over there only has 261 hp.
so, basically, our evo is not like any of theirs. it's closer with the new 2005s since we finally have acd, but they still have ayc and we don't. our MR is closest to their fq-300 I suppose... only with less power, an aluminum roof, no ayc... etc etc etc.

I don't understand why you feel the need to ridicule me.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have not said the warranties are different in other countries for the same models, the FQ series of EVO's are uprated from the basic offering that we have in the US and i could not see those models ever being sold in the US due to the warranty issues they have experienced with the mere 271Hp we have. The MR has what another 5HP and that is nothing compared to the FQ340.
