Why are people so crazy...

....about the new MR?
I was very very interested in that car also untill I spoke to a company yesterday that is using 4 EVOs for active rallye racing.
They tested the 6gear MT and said it's not as good as the 5MT. Also there is a big questionmark if it'd handle higher hp levels.

Also the MR is in fact 10kilos heavier than the normal EVO VIII and 40kilos heavier then the RS.

The extra equipment like badges, alu pedals and stuff is fact also that would make me want to spend the extra money.

And only fpr the Bilstein shox (which aren't expensive here in germany)
and the Vortex roof spoiler.....????

So I'm pretty sure I will go to my dealer this week and order a normal '05 Evo VIII.

What do you guys think?

Well, don't forget the heliptic front differential, center differential, rear differential, acd...
aluminum roof...

those blistens are custom adjusted for evo...

I don't see the big deal either really. It's a new thing and its different.... with that extra $5000, I would rather make my 03 evo go faster.

I also heard that the 6-speed gearbox is not as strong as the 5-speed. I guess this is not much of a issue if you do not plan on stepping up the power.

What's PO300?

Actually we don't have the MR in germany and it's not clear if we'll ever have it.
I was to order the only car straight form Japan (yes, lhd but straight from japan)
but now I see that I might do a big fault.
The MR would come w/o any kind of guarantee.
The "german GSR" comes pretty complete with Super ACD and Super AYC, sports ABS...
We can only choose between leather Recaros with small wing or blue Recaros with
big wing.

in answer to you original question: ...
a) it is because it is new and slightly more exclusive (limited production).....
b) It has an aluminum roof (might not really help with the over all weight of the car but lowers the center of gravity) good for handling...
c) It has the bilstein shock with matched springs that not only give it a much better ride but better cornering ability (after all it was tested in your home town of "Neurenberg" spelling might be wrong)
d) Yes the 6 speed might be weaker than the 5 speed, we don't know that yet, as it is still new and people are going to take a chance on that if they want to mod, we might find out it is as strong as the 5 speed if not stronger .... but we do know that the gearing for the 6 speed is slightly closer and keeps the engine in the power band all the time. Thus leading to better acceleration in higher speeds.
e) It comes standard with gauges, alum shifter and alum pedals .....

Actually Nurenburg is where they held the war trials for WWII.

I think you mean the village of Nurburg which the Nurburgring (track) is centered on.

No, haven't heard of that PO300 failure codes so far. Will have to get into that.

Yeah, Nuerburgring is my favourite racetrack here and I spend so much time there.
Hope my EVO Times will be much better than my Z times

from what I understand. all the 05's get the acd, front lsd, and more HP. the mr get the 6speed and a few trim options, special paint color, special wheels and the vortex generator. the Mr and the RS both get the aluminium roof. this is what I have gather'd from some research. please fill free to corect or add anything I've said.

You make all of in the US jealous. The only experience I will probaly get around the Nuerburgring (pardon the earlier spelling) is either in a rental car or European delivery of something interesting (997 )
The ring taxi sounds like fun too!

What sort of times are you turning in your Z?

Actually you can't count lap times on Nuerburgring seriously.
That's because you have to go out of the track and then enter it again
every time you want to run 1 turn.
There is a barrier outsid of the track where you have to pay and get in every single turn.
Only for races and test the whole track is opened and you can run a full turn.
