I don't care about roll racing, I just meant that for a cheaper car to beat a more expensive car is something to think about.

IDK, ill probably go with the EVO. But then again you guys say used EVO, I could find a used SRT for less than 16K and then mod.

I know it is, it looks better than the EVO though. That's in my opinion, so thats all that matters.

Plus STi is just Impreza, EVO = Lancer, SRT = Neon.

Hi.

Go with your preference. There were 2 glaring mistakes in your post, but if that's what you really believe, then go with it:

1) Stock srt-4s do _not_ beat stock evos from a roll, ESPECIALLY not the 05 Evos. Yes, srt-4s are much closer than expected since they are fwd, but they don't make quite enough power to outrun a stock evo.

2) The handling difference is extreme...the srt-4 is nowhere close. You should have seen the _one_ srt-4 that tried to compete in an auto-x we had a month ago. He finished in the bottom 10 (out of 80) and hasn't come back since. There hasn't been one other srt-4 that has even tried to compete while I have finished no lower than 7th in 4 events, and I've never autocrossed before in my life (5th, 7th, 7th, 2nd).

Regardless, the srt-4 is a cool car and is good for little ricers that want to go fast without any real handling or traction and without any real racing ability.

The problem with this is that these two cars are in different classes in so many ways that it would not be fair to you to consider them in the same topic. Evo stock suspension will eat any srt4 all around the curves, but light to light I guess a srt4 be nice sitting there spinning its front tires as the evo moves out(this is what the 5k got you with the neon). This is a no brainer, if you get the chance get the Evo and get a pure sports car that rivals any for true streetable performance!

You will be happy with the evo fo sho! I came from a stop light Cobra and the class, handling, tighness, fit and finish, quality, notariety(looks it gets), and exclusivity will make you very happy. As to the negative comments for all, do we really need this?

Good choice. The Evo is a very quick car indeed, and even though 4WD will save you from a lot of silly mistakes, you should still practice common sense.

Good luck with car shopping! Post some pics when you buy yours. (Tarmac black is the best color, IMO)
