1.7s is just an average 60'. It's nothing special...that won't make you lose your tranny by any means.

The mods you listed after the fact are good for low-to-mid 12s depending on the launch.

as much as the Evo community has grown in the last 2 years of owning 2 of the cars, i can't believe that people still have no idea what it is and what it can do. I wish more people knew about cars, then they could appreciate the engineering and performance of all the great cars in the world with big wings

Just this last weekend a friend came to visit and saw my EVO for the first time. He said he thought it was nice except for the wing looked like somthing from F&F. Oh well. The only other crap I've gotten is a guy in a big ford truck passed me on the right once with his arm and middle finger hanging out of the window. Again, I think the wing triggered this reaction.

I get people try to race me too, but you gotta ignore them or you'll lose your car and your licence.

At the end of the day though, I don't care what the haters say -- this is one of my dream cars, and I have it! Plus I've got way more positive remarks on the car then negative ones.

The styling on both the STI and the EVO is a real shame. To bad they didn't make it more conventional.

Are you being serious or sarcastic? There are enough cars with conventional styling.

i dont get raced much b/c i have an rs, and i obviously haven't been laughed at for my non-existent wing. whe peoplel do race it is in a srt, dsm, or firebirds they always want to go. i didnt want the wing and even if i didnt get an rs i would have been taking it off. although they have grown on me. i always thought the evo looked hot. i disliked the rear bumber when i first bought the car, just b/c the front looks so bad a$$ and who would be seeing the front of my car anyway. but i like the curves of it fine now. i constantly stare at my car with a smile everytime i get in and out even though i have driven her for nearly 20k.

I'm completely serious. There will always be little kids who will buy body kits for their cars. How many cars with conventional styling for $30,000 that will do 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds? None. Every article I've read about these cars correctly points out the adolescent styling.

I guess it's an uncoventionally fast car with unconventionally functional styling. . . I just read that motortrend review of the 2005 MR vs. RS vs. VIII and DAMN didn't realize the vortex generators were THAT functional, 68lbs of downforce at 100mph!!! Sounds absurd that anyone would drive at that speed, but in these cars, I frequently find myself reaching 120mph without batting an eyelash. . .scary. . ..

More conventional???? Why? They are what they are and people need to except this. These cars are not grocery getters and never will be. It someone wants conventional, buy a neon or a honda.

Adolescent styling!! Oh. and nothing wrong with having body kits at all. That is so wrong it's pathetic. The Evo is not a childs car or a boy toy racer. In the rest of the world these cars are respected grown up big boy toys that derived from WRC rally development. People need to wise up in this country. The magazines are double talkers. One moment they praise the cars and in the next breath they take shots at it for adolescent styling. They are so full of themselves and trying not to sound too impressed with an imported street racer to try and not **** off the conservative readers. Forget the mags, take what is important from the articles and discard the bogus opinion info.

I have been called out once, er twice sence I had my 05.. The old 03 was called out or piped all the time. For some reason people have a small fear of the MR I guess. Unforcantly locals have learned my and my friends cars that ride around town with me.. Nobody ever really wants to run. When they do, they seem to go after the SRT, BMW or my buddys 600whp civic si we built and had tuned by mace in FL, nobody seems to pipe the evo's (4 of us). It seems when you cruse with 890whp supra and few other = mean cars, word spread s quick.

Guess thats what sucks for liveing in a small city. Luckly though its a military town so there is always fresh meat comeing in.
