i only had a dream, i wasnt asking for the floodgates of the aftermarket companies to open upon us, but id like to see more support than we currently have, especially since our car has been on the market for like 4 years or whatever

I guess to a certain degree I am just venting my frustrations since 2002 when I bought this car. I didn't always have much disposable income at first and in those days we centered around helping each other get the most bang for our dollars.

I've managed to get most of what I wanted done now and although it has been a struggle it has been rewarding. I have one last thing planned from the DIY crowd and I am pretty much sure that my Lancer goals will be achieved.

It might be that much of what I am saying comes from the choice I made to be different and buy a Lancer. It's easy to be jealous of the Honda's and their spoon fed network. I just wish things weren't quite this difficult for a vehicle that has been out for nearly 5 years.

Don't forget though that we changed body stylings half way through that. While we have the same engine things from 02-03 don't fit anymore.

this thread has been open for 2 hours and we already have like 60 replies, so obviously this is a hot topic, but lets keep it on to what it was originally intended to be, i just had a dream, and id like to see what we can do it about it, not to sit here and argue about what i or others think about the companies that currently support us

That's pretty much what I was trying to say above.

Yes it's frustrating that there is a lack of aftermarket support. The thing is though if you really want to get something done you can do it with some patience. What the aftermarket companies don't offer we have pretty much had guys from the DIY world help us to achieve.

Yeah you all get all the nice headlights and taillights!! I had to DIY all mine.

I don't really see our aftermarket as struggling by any means. RRM has several things out, RPW has several things out, many other companies that specialize in a field have made things for our cars. Just look around a little longer. Some of the non-vital points of Evo trannies are compatible with our's. Bush linkage, short shifters and of course shifter base to name a few. And some people have made some DIY things as an individual and kind of made some things happen, i.e. Joe's underdrive pulley for the 2.4 and 2.0, which in essence spurred RRM to make one for the 2.4 and 2.0 as well.

The only thing I could think of doing would be to email the companies. Unfortunately this tactic is not very effective, it took some 2 years to see any sign of aftermarket shocks.

You have got to come back in here and tell us who that is. I hate to go to the dealer for anything as they are the most overpriced place of all

All the manufacturers of aftermarket parts:
"State what is that you need my son! Another exhaust? Intake (OMG)? Or just competition=lower prices?"

I tell you what guys...if you want to take a step back read the Ralliart forums. They are where we were a few years ago. I've taken to reading their how/to's for other DIY stuff info that we don't have.

If you really want something we are at the stage were you've still got to DIY. Just because you DIY doesn't mean it's any less perfomance oriented.

WRONG!!! RRM BOUGHT HIM OUT! and according to Joe, they had him sign a contract promising ot NEVER DEVELOP ANOTHER PART FOR A LANCER PLATORM -EVER-. If that's not monopolistic, please, tell me what is. (sorry 'bout that, just really felt like shouting about it )

Let's look at some facts. As stated above you have a few companies that offer a variety of product, and I'd say between them they're all quality products and they don't leave much out.
Look at a racing uniform- how many companies are represented there? You've got the Engine/body, suspension, spark plugs, oil/additives, coolant, seats/harnesses, helmets, and other parts. If you try to make a "Company X" only car, you're not going to have the most competitive, or even nicest looking car out there.
Omarboy is a grat example. Mix-n-match and tweak = 300+ HP&TQ. My car is coming together with parts from everybody (RRM header, sadly) including a lot of fabbed parts from yours truly. It helps that I refuse to pay anyone to do anything for me and I've done 100% of the install/repair work myself (just a little pat on my own back... thanks )

I think what is really being asked for is simply cheaper parts. And again, that won't happen until people buy stuff, and companies like Buschur decide to give us one more chance.

Blast from the past: anyone remember Rhys Millen Racing (RMR)? Again, no love for them so they stopped coming around.

The "aftermarket" shocks are KYB replacements. They're not even the AGXs that RMR had for a couple months... again, no one bought them so they weren't produced anymore.
