I have a dream

I have a dream, that one day the USDM Lancer will have the support of the aftermarket community, not like the hondas, thats too much to ask for, im talking the tsions, even the lil Xa has more support to us. I have a dream of a day when we dont have to rely on rrm and rpw for turbo kits, and our own bored out parts (which it would probably be cheaper just to take them to an aftermarket mom and pop store) to produce more horsepower. I have a dream that HKS, Greddy, Skunk 2, and other big name import tuners will provide us with turbo kits, camshafts, and other goodies. I have a dream that Eibach, Tein, and Nex will not be the only ones providing us with springs and coilovers. That even Edelbrock will say hey lil USDM lancer, ive got some new parts for you if you want to check them out. One day, when someone will figure out a way for us to have a stroker kit. I have a dream where honda civics and mitsubishi lancers will race side by side, for about the same amount of money... that one day the evos will stop thinking of us as the red headed step childs, and start thinking of us as worthy competitors. But im scared that this dream will not turn into reality, and will instead turn into a nightmare because we will be forgotten, or thought of just another "mustang 2". Lets hope this will not happen, write letters to greddy and bug the crap out of them for a lil more than a EVO 2 exhaust, bug HKS for a lil more than some metal head gaskets, and bug Skunk 2 for some....well....something, i dont know what, maybe some shift nobs 'cause im not really expecting anything from them.. let us be supported a lil less like the mustang 2 (which by the way still has more parts than us) and a lot more like our biological brothers the eclipses and evos, hell, we know mitsubishi is owned by dodge, why cant we share as many parts as that lil sartie?

im a lil tired, so if this stopped making sense towards the end, middle, or even the beginning forgive me, im at "war" in iraq

I second this dream and will go on the mission with ya.. speak on .. make it home safe to turn this into a reality... it's all possible but more of us have to push the limits and raise some eyebrows.. who's with us to make this happen.. it's going to take lots of persistance and dedication. When times get tough we still have to trudge on to find the light at the end which may hold prize money and magazine covers...

sorry to say this guys, but i think rrm is overrated, i think with the proper r&d this lancer could put out some nice numbers, look at omarboy, i just dont think that these companies supporting our car right now have the financial stability or proper tools to research with that some of the bigger name companies have, i also think that rrm is pulling the wool over our eyes, look at there website, everything says "ours is better cause we made it, and also cause we said so," nothing says what its made out of or the complete list of products used, especially the turbo kits, but i did buy some stuff from them, but nothing major

very true.. but then again.. It will take more on our end to push the cars out there and get noticed. We would have to find a company willing to take the risk. One car is a start but it's all about promoting and getting your name out there. Once you get good numbers from a dyno you have to sell yourself.. lets face it .. we know these companies are not going to come to us... sad but true...

I wouldn't call RRM overrated, without them we'd be nowhere at all. It has to start somewhere, even honda started with small time tuners selling minor parts, you can't expect companies like HKS or Skunk2 to dump money into R and D if there is no indication of a market.

I agree... it's sad we get no love and from the same family too...

Travelsize.. yes modded, but more of us have to be willing to take those risks that come with modding a car that wasn't built for all that power.. almost looking at a complete engine bay dump

i'd like to call the magazine "i hate honda because they get all the support and we dont, but our cars look better, even though our rims suck" is that short enough? and i understand that rrm isnt putting out low numbers, but should we be satisfied with what they are putting out? no. But sadly people are, and that is why we are the new "mustang 2"

Show them there is actually a market. Unfortunately most people are all talk, Buschur has stopped selling lancer parts because nobody bought them, this is hardly a good sign.
