3 things:

1) Do an exhaust instead of the intake. Intake isn't needed or helpful, and the exhaust provides huge gains (~30whp).

2) Don't bother with a BOV. Your stock one is already an upgraded one that many of us VIII owners had to BUY - we didn't get a good one like you. You won't need a better BOV than that stocker until you are pushing mega boost on alky or until you get a bigger turbo.

3) Do NOT get flashed BEFORE an intake (or MBC). Get the parts, install, then get flashed right after for the parts you've already installed.

Good info, I didn't know the stock BOV on the IX's were that much better. So say i get an aftermarket intake and do a flash as opposed to getting a K&N and doing a flash. Will both yield the same results?

Well, K&N is an aftermarket intake, too, so I'm not sure on your question. If you were asking about an aftermarket intake vs a K&N drop-in (not their only intake device), then yes, the gains would be about the same with a flash, but you would have spent much more on the aftermarket one. Seriously, you should only worry about exhaust, boost control, and tuning (flash). Those are the only 3 things you need to get 330-340whp on a Dynojet, which is what VIIIs get with cams...

Yeah, I meant the K&N drop-in filter, not the aftermarket intake. I guess an MBC/EBC is next on the agenda. How much boost can the stock IX BOV hold? Then again, I'm planning to stick with the stock IX turbo for awhile and I believe on 91 octane, people shouldn't be running over 22psi anyways.

The stock IX BOV can handle 24-25psi easily, so you won't need to upgrade it until you run alky daily or until you go to a larger turbo. I do believe I already said this earlier in the thread, though, when I told you NOT to upgrade the BOV. I could be mixing it up with the other 1000 times I've said it, though.

Don't run over 21psi on 91oct.

3 mods - all you need - repeat after me:

1) Exhaust
2) Boost controller (Forge UNOS!) + gauge
3) Tune (Dynoflash!)

Cheap 330whp right there...

Blah fine, I'll say it with you..

1) Exhaust
2) Boost controller (Forge UNOS!) + gauge
3) Tune (Dynoflash!)

There now I won't forget...time to look for a boost controller then since I have to do my exhaust this weekend anyways.

Excellent, be sure to contact me or to at least contact Martin@TSF. PJ is at school, as you probably know, plus he still owes me my TSF magnets for when I'm racing, that lazy bastard!

Anyway, we're just about ready to post up the Warrtalon stages for the IX, so TSF will be ready for you as soon as you're ready. We just had a big tuning trip where Dynoflash came down and tuned about 8 Evo IXs. One already went and put down 300whp with just a flash and MBC on the stock exhaust. Total craziness! Plus, that was just a BASE flash, not even a custom road tune or dyne tune.

Be sure to join the DcEvoClub so that you can keep up to date with everything we do. We just had a dyno day and a tuning session - now, we have another dyno day coming up along with lots of racing that will probably begin in late Feb.

I already pointed you towards the best MBC. Next best after the Forge UNOS would be the Hallman Pro. That is, unless you decide to go with an EBC.

You know. I think I thought of this all wrong. I realized that I want to stay as stock as possible and that includes ecu so that means I'll have to resort to a flash which is good enough to reach the stock turbos limits. I heard the SAFC does little to nothing in terms of tuning for power on the IX since you can't obviously tune MIVEC. I'm wondering if I made a mistake getting a wideband unit at all. Seems like overkill for my goals. I just need some solid feedback regarding tuning with the SAFC after a flash on a IX. The other thing is the lack of a harness. Does anybody sell this yet?

As for boost controller, yeah I'm going EBC, but the HKS EVC IV. No need for the extra features of the V.
