Hi EvoM. Must resist modding '06 Evo.

Hello EvoM forum!! Must...resist...mod...bug... (read last paragraph and assume that I can't avoid it)

Purchased up in Huntington Beach. Loving every second I spend with this Black Labrador Pearl beauty. Has 1300 miles now on it.

Couple concerns. Do you guys flush your break-in oil after 600 miles? Also, anybody know where I can find info on where to start concerning modding an Evo IX? With certains parts being different from the VIII, I didn't want to purchase any items that won't fit properly.

Welcome! I have about 900 miles on my IX and intend to change it until 3-4k. At first, I was like you, I'm going to resist modding, but its just to good to be true as I intend to get it reflashed early January of next year as it has shown incredible results (near 280-290whp with just a flash).

Only advice for you, if you want headaches then go ahead and mod it. You can enjoy the car stock cause its pretty fast already and I doubt that you can push this car to its limits yet. Seach this forum, see all the people that are having problems are people that moded their car. So up to you really have a good day

Not too much of a risk with just an exhaust -- respectable gains too

Just be careful as it is a slippery slope.

change oil frequently. it gets dirty pretty quick. my first oil change at 1000 miles was surprise. It was total black. mod if you are brave enough to ignore warranties.

I changed my oil within a 100 miles O_o
I broke in my Evo with the controversial method of a "hard break in."
So far I have no regrets. lol.
I think the first mod you should do is a reflash, search the forums, the IXs are gaining
A huge amount off a relativley "cheap" mod.

I did the oil change at 500, 1500, 3000 miles a bit excessive but I'm like that with maintenance, I recommend 1000, 3000 and every 3000 after that. Also change your trans fluid at 3000 miles, mine was pretty black with lots of metal flakes in it.

Welcome and congrats on your car.

I have had my Evo 8 for about a year now with no mods, except a drop in K&N air filter. I have a long list of things I want to mod, but I refuse to void the warranty for now. The stock car is very fast.
