One very important thing...Did you check to see if any insurance company will insure you at that age or how much it will be if they will? My friend made the mistake of buying an STI and then getting his insurance quote afterwards. The best quote he got was $750 a month.

Alright, if you guys read my first post, on this forum, you would already know that I know how dangerous an Evo is, and that it can be hard to control at times, and I know about the high maintenance, insurance, etc. But I just want an Evo guys, duh, we all love it, and just because I'm 14 doesn't mean I cannot appreciate this machine that has prevailed through so many treacherous Dakar rallies. People here say i know a lot for a 14 year old, just because I'm new to this forum, doesnt mean I'm an all-out idiot just cause I'm young. My real plan is to get a dd too so the Evo's suspension won't hurt my back. I know how to be careful and I Will take care of my Evo by parking it far away, so it doesn't get keyed, letting it warm up first before driving, etc. Look guys, I love this forum and whenever I need help or more info, I can just read it all here, there is no other forum that can do that. I'm 14 and I have hopes and dreams, but dont we all? Have any of you ever dreamed of owning a Carrera GT or an Enzo? IF you have, then you should know how I feel. Btw, the Evo won't be under my name, itll be under my prents', but I will provide the monthly pmnt. BUt look, I ain't trying to be hard-headed and saying "oh I want this I want that" cuz i aint a baby anymore. I want the Evo because I love it and it is my true desire. My heart is set on getting it, the Evo IX, the last Evolution with the cast-iron 4G63!!!

I make like 18 an hour and I am struggling with my payments and bills and beer. Holy ****, 7 an hour? Good luck dude.

I would just get a beater and drive that til I am 18 and buy the car you really want... OR buy a 1g DSM? They can still be made extremely fast.

you should wait and work harder so your mommy doesn't need to buy everything for you. if you were to get that car, it'll just make for another evo crashed representing the RIP sign.

.......and people wonder why evom.com's maturity level is nonexistent

I didn't know you could sign, or co-sign, for a car at 15. His mom and dad will probably do the financing. It's hard as hell to get approved, my wife and I were barely abe to get the Evo with 0% interest, an we make good money and have good credit. Hell, if I could have had my Evo at 14, I would have killed myself and probably a few innocent bystanders. Saying you'll be careful is one thing, but once you're behind the wheel of this beast, I doubt a middle school kid would be able to restrain from the temptations. Plus, do they allow 15 year olds at the track? I doubt someone will buy an Evo and not be reckless, you need a place to unleash the car every now and then.

I am 14 y/o and next year when I am 15 1/2, I'm gonna try to get a job at my local Toyota dealership as a detailer. Not the detailer that paints cars but the kind that cleans the new cars and gets them ready for the customers. But anywyas, I start off at $7 an hour, and I can work 4 hours a day after school so that is $28 a day, and 6 days a week so that is $168. And $168 times 4 because there are four weeks in a moth is....$672 so that is more than enough for a mothly payment. Now, my mom said that she would take care of the down and I'll try to bargain with the dealer so I can get an IX for $27,000 without the SSL. So I'm just asking, does this sound right to you guys? Or should I wait until they mark down the IX's?

Edit: My mom will put down a $10k down so thatll make the monthly payment like about $350 and it's not going to be a daily driver, I'll drive it often but not so much that I would often have to replace the tires, clutch, brakes, etc. My mom will pay the insurance too....
15 1/2 When youre old enough you no longer ascribe the half...so youre already toooo young based on that...not to mention youre a 14 YEAR OLD KID!

This is one of thos "LIFESAVER" type responses. YOU ARE WAYYYYY TOOOOO YOUNG PERIOD. But then again, youre probably not gonna listen and end up gettin the car...so why bother asking? What the hell are your parents thinking in the first place approving such an idea??

When i was like 18, about 10 years ago, i tried convincing my parents to get me a z28 (evo-ish car back in the days)...luckily my parents have some sense and told me to **** off, for lack of a better term I was pissed off but i am thankful now they put my *** in check. I understand now...if anything you need to SLAP some sense into your parents on my behalf.

When I was 16, I had an old Astro minivan as a first car. It sucked, but I learned to drive. Unless your parents are rally drivers and your uncle races for NASCAR, I seriously doubt you will be able to handle the power of an Evo at 16. $7 an hour part time??? I make more than $27 an hour and it's still a shock to pay as much as I do to drive this machine.

I'm like most people who have chimed in: You'd be underpaid and too young. I know that's not what you want to hear, but there have been 2 kids in my area under 18 that have both totalled their Evos after putting way too many mods in an already fast car. One won't drive till he's 21 since his license got taken away. Get something fun and cheaper (like a WRX), and have mom foot most of the bill unless you want to spend your whole life (which could be short) in debt and tied at home. Sorry to burst your dreams, I had plenty of my own when I was your age.

Yea, this is a good idea. Start out with a slower car. I had a v6 camaro when I was 16 and it was a good start. I did some stupid things when I was young and if I would have had a car with real power I probably would have really gotten myself into trouble or hurt. You should learn how to drive on a slower car till you are more experienced. Plus everyone at your school is going to be trying to race you and being young, you will most likely go along with it to try to impress people. Next thing you know, you will lose your license or wreck your car.

Can you say PARTS CAR!!! If the car won't kill him the insurance will even if his parents claim it's for them. Plus if he wrecks it while it's under his parents name they may not cover him so not only will he be dead but someone is going to take your parents to court for everything they have. An evo as a daily driver, you don't make enough for the monthly maint. to cover gas and oil and clutch. Anyway, kill this thread, it's stupid, his parents probably won't do anything for him, plus when they are at the dealer and test drive it for him, b/c they won't let him drive, they'll realize they can't handle the car let alone their new driver. It's all horse crap. Tell him to come back when he has keys in his hand, til then don't bother us with usless threads.

There is a major difference between having hopes and dreams and whats best for you/whats the right thing for you. There is no analogy/story you could entertain me with to convince me otherwise...youre a 14 year old kid!!! I dont care what you think you know, this is not an idea you should follow through with. And i would like to stress again WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOUR PARENTS FOR APPROVING SUCH AN IDEA OR EVEN CONSIDERING SUCH AN IDEA?

I agree with most of the members here, you are young enjoy your youth, when i was your age i wanted an evo so bad but i waited and waited and waited and finally got a beater, an old school talon. It was no evo but had awd and was turboed. When I turn 21, i finally got my EVO IX and let me tell you, the car is a lot to handle between payments and insurance and that's not even including gas. I say if you want it get it but you should really balance what's more important like saving that money you get for college, after college you can get all the evos you want.
