I've had my evo for over a year. The problem with the evo is not the monthly payment, its the insurance, gas, brakes, tires, fluids that go along with keeping it up. I have 25k on my car in a little over a year. Just spend 265$ on brake pads, made a $700 snow tire purchase, new summer tires soon and I spend over 200$ a month on gas. Granted I drive alot, but with a car like this, how can you stay out of it? Point is, you will need at least another car payment per year to maintain this car. It adds up in a hurry.

Also, is this money under the table? You're not counting for the government taking their share as well.

I know its tempting, but you'd be better of starting with a car that is used/cheaper and one that is much easier/cheaper to maintain.

I wont even bring up the itch you will develop to mod the car.

Good luck either way, but like everyone else said... too much, way to soon.

I almost didn't know what to say to this thread. I will stifle my desire to be an a$$hole and provide a different perspective.

What if life doesn't go perfectly and you end up facing a situation that would seriously impeed your ability to own an Evo? At 14 you may not have grasp the concept that life throws some curveballs at you. What if one day your ***** drop, you decide to have secks and your girl becomes pregnant? Then you have to support a child.

I know that you won't listen to this, but at least I can sleep better know I did my part in attempting to make the world a better place

I'm just giving the kid a little info I'm in my 20's with two kids two cars etc. and a evo is expensive 33/hour that I make is covering it but some of the exspenses that come along with an evo are a pain in the a$$ clutch, mods etc.

dude just get a less expensive car man.

wrx... srt. Just get an evo later, coming from a guy that was in your shoes its the best thing you can do man.

ALL of your income will go into just the car payment, nevermind insurance and maintaince and oil changes, and GAS!! there is a LOT more that goes into the general maintaince and upkeep of a sports car.

You say your parents will help, what happens if one of them decides to stop helping you? Or if one of them loses their job?

ehh whatever... just get the car, I'm sure theres a bunch of guys that are more than willing to take it from you after you sell it in a year

Kid, you're not even 15, you need to learn how to drive on a more reasonable car first. Stop trying to act grown up for your first car. You're just an accident waiting to happen.

ok I am not going to be quite as harsh as everybody else.. I think it is great that you are interested in the evo... BUT.. I grew up in the car business. My family had two lots and I detailed cars.. It SUCKS *****.. You will probably not want to do that for 5 yrs.. Also there is one HUGE thing you need to realize if you are going to own and EVO.. An evo is a HUGE sacrifice.. Anybody that owns one will probably tell you that they could own 2 honda civics for what it costs to purchase and upkeep and EVO.. I am 25 and a loan officer for the 2nd largest bank in the world... And the money I spend on my evo still kicks me in the butt every now and again... This is not a toy and is quite expensive to own.. start out small and work your way up.. Just friendly advice

come on, an evo won't be that expensive for him to own. it'll be in a tree way before he has to worry about the cost of tires, brakes, fluids, etc..., hell maybe even before he has to worry about a monthly payment.

seriously though, i say if you want an awd 4g63 car get a DSM. stock it'll feel quick to you, then once you get used to it you'll be able to easily upgrade and make more power. plus you'll get to learn how to work on it and learn your way around the engine. then once you get a real job that pays more than minimum wage if you still want an evo go for it, you'll have the knowledge to do your work yourself because it's basically the same engine and you'll be able to handle the power

Little man... please! They do not tread so lightly on bankruptcy these days, so I hope you have a solid plan for financial stability! Like everyone has said, you are young = you have no idea what it means to be responsible. Hell, most guys don't really grow up until 25 or so, I was like 26/27, and I was in dept. I then found a woman, got married, had a son, and I am still dreaming about getting an Evo! Yep, screw the Carrera GT or Enzo, my dream car is the Evo. This summer, my dreams will hopefully come true!

Dude, grow up... then get your dream car! That is why so many old people drive vettes. It is just the way it is.

14 1/2 is so young to drive and Evo and be able to control the power of it. If you dream about the Evo, keep it dream and get some other car. If you buy it now, evo will not be your dream car anymore.

If you want to start right and be cool, get a good stickshift such as integra, civic, 240sx... any good, inexpensive car learn how to control the car and become good driver, then get a evo and be great with it. Get evo now will just spoil you, make you thought that you are good driver , fast driver when you aren't .

And yes, Gran Tourismo 4 is great way to own and evo at your age!!!
